I sometimes attend Maghrib and Isha prayers at a masjid

I am is very close proximity to a Hindu mandir, Islamic center/masjid, baptist church, protestant church, Catholic temple, Mormon center and Jehovah's Witness church.

I am essentially in a very good spot for interreligious encounters.

Now I often attend the masjid for the final 2 salah often simply because it is late and I find it peaceful. Now one of the main issues is of course that I am not a Muslim and will of course dodge that if a question arises or I will give the impression that I am one.

I am not fond of lying but nor am I fond of being bothered or having idle conversations.

Is it particularly wrong of me to attend any salah when I am not even a Muslim and an apostate at that?

You may be right about the Hindu, Islamic and Baptist church's places of worship, but Catholics call their places of worship either churches, cathedrals or basillicas (never temples). Mormons call theirs churches or chapels (not centers), and Jehovah's Witnesses call theirs Kingdom Halls (not churches). No biggie. Just saying.

why not just ask the worshippers if you can attend? i sometimes go to friday prayers and listen to the sermons but i let them know that i'm not a muslim.

I used to go to a Catholic school. I could not think of the proper name for Catholic church, I meant basillica but I could not find it through Google at the time . Thanks anyways.

The rest I did not know. The reason why I called it a Mormon center is because I think it is some sort of Mormon press and not an actual church. But it is a Mormon building of some kind.

Why? What does it even concern them? Salah is to talk to Allah sub hanahu wa ta'ala not man.

Well it gives me peace being with god even if I am not of the same faith or any faith at all.

I just do not like to encounter any conversations which can sometimes occur afterwards.

I have no issue in reciting the Qur'an or participating or being around Muslims. Just because I do not agree with all of Islam does not mean I despise it or must make myself an enemy of it.

Certain things I like, agree with and cherish. Others things I do not. I heavily cherish doing salat and it is a pleasure of mine I dislike others taking away from me.

Salah is a personal thing not done out of fear concern or guilt for others. If it is something that gives you this peace and you enjoy it then do it, the opinion of others does not matter. Worship is for your own spiritual self.

I've said before. You're not a full blown apostate.

If anything you struggle. We all do. But no nonbeliever would find peace in salah

Me and you need to really have a discussion int he debate section about what an apostate is.

In all of my years of learning Islam there is some really basic stuff I skipped. Mainly because I viewed it as unimportant. Apostasy was one of them, the second was marriage:)D)

I know what an apostate is. I some of the things you say about Islam and all.

But I don't think all of that is from the heart.

Nothing I say is from the heart to be blatant here. I am not an emotional person and just rely upon basic reasoning skills.

If something does not compute it gets deleted. That is the nexus of my reasoning skills and emotional behavior.

I had a family discussion and we spoke about you an apostate reading 2 salah and they all agree that something must be bothering you.
On your above statement my 2 daughters and 2 son-in-laws,who are doctors, suggest you have a brain scan. They suspect there may be water upstairs.

I think he's an apostate. It's just that he seems to like religions or some particular aspects in them and he needs spirituality.
He's not a muslim from what he said here and there in the forum and his vision of God is quite different.

If you want to pray to the mosque and feel peace in it, then i don't know why you couldn't.
I understand you as i also like to watch christians praying and listen sometimes to their sermons on tv.
It's just that you like things here and there from each religions.

But some muslims may think it's wrong as you denied God's verses after accepting them. So they probably won't understand why you still go to the mosque and they may think you try to fool them.

I have been around way to many fundies I think. It is sort of rubbing off on me perhaps because every time a religious person acts civil I get perplexed :D.

My own ignorance I guess.
