In the beginning there was THE TRUE GOD. For reasons entirely His own, He created Angels, with whom were imbued with the powers that God gave to them. The most powerful had the power to create -- and destroy. This, most powerful of the angels created the Heavens and the Earth, and all in it, including Man. It is no repetition in Genesis, it's an actual fact. Man existed before Adam and Eve.
Adam and Eve resided in a non-earthly area called , at that time, Eden. Eden is a perfect place where the only fruit man has not yet eaten from is the Tree of Life. Eden is our true home , for which we all long to return to. When Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, They were turned into corporeal Beings and banished from The Garden. The new name of the Garden of Eden is Heaven, and our goal is to return there. When Adam and Eve became earthbound, all men were imbued with souls that had eaten of the forbidden fruit.
The earlier, lesser "gods" were imperfect, The most cursory examination of the Old Testament contains plenty of unpleasant things being done to people who, basically, didn't deserve it . For instance, how do you think the folks living in Jericho felt when their walls fell down? Don't even get me started on Sodom and Gommorah, and the Oh So just Lot that offered up his daughters to gang rape to save some angels. Near_total global destruction because of why? Changing what?
Around 2000 years ago, for reasons entirely His own, God, the true God became a Man. He was not the first to come along claiming to be the Messiah, but his Message was different and all-inclusive. IT is interesting to note that God , at that time, was more readily accepted by other religions. The Saducees and the Pharisees hated Jesus for two very familiar reasons--money and power. The Romans just wanted the natives to be quiet. Besides that, Jesus' entrance to Jerusalem had deliberately mocked them
