Hello Kim!
I wish you all the best in your search! About a year ago I had all the same questions and I'm happy to see that you're getting great answers from the brothers and sisters here. I've also been introduced to some interesting points and references within this thread that I'd like to look into :D I haven't had the wonderful opportunity to go to a mosque, so it would be a great pleasure to hear about your experience :)

Thank you for your kind words, sister Maro :) Yes, I'm a convert, grew up among Christians and Atheists. I appreciate the links, I watched the first episode of Stairway to Paradise...very interesting! I like his style, insha Allah I will continue watching and learning.

As for your question...haha it wasn't easy trying to figure out how to pray. Many sources were telling me such different ways  I finally figured it out through multiple videos and websites that shared the same information. Alhamdulillah I also met a kind brother from Egypt who helped clearly explain it as well.

The authentic hadith is an integral part of our religion...both the quran and the hadith are revealations...the difference is that the quran (the arabic) is the litteral word of allah..while al hadith are the words of prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
That's not true maro, hadiths are claimed to be the words of our prophet (PBUH). There are hadiths that contradict the Quran, even in Bukhari for example, therefore all hadiths must be carefully compared with the Quran, before calling them authentic. Just because certain people in the past called certain hadiths authentic doesn't mean that they are; this is one of the main problems facing the Muslim world. Whoever brings this up is unfortunately called a kafir or heretic :(

Dear Argamemnon

Firstly, I reckon this is not the right place to discuss this issue.

Secondly, a lot has been written & spoken in refutation to the subject and normally such claims come from people who are not aware of the "Sciences of Hadith" - its detailed and precise method of scrutinizing the sayings, actions or approval of the Prophet of Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) as related to us through his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them all).

This indeed is an area where lots of Muslims need to be educated on, like myself and you so start a new thread and I believe our fellow knowledgeable brothers and sisters would be able to give us a much comprehensive reply or guide us to such sources.

Yep I'm a revert, alhamdulillah. Thank you sis! :) I haven't shared my experience with anyone before, but I'll give it a shot and post it in a little while insha Allah.
