Just out of curiosity, on what grounds would something be beyond the scope of science?
Now this is an interesting question. :clap

One thing that has always confused me about the Big Bang is the fact you can't get a donut hole without the donut. So how did all the gases and dust form to be able to create the explosion that created everything.
Im equally confused as to how a god or goddess would pull themselves together from nothing, but since they are powerful and can do anything, I find it easier to believe.

The difference is one says "I do not know, but I believe beyond that which I can grasp"
The other "I do not know"

Are not all supernatural claims, by definition, beyond the scope of science?
They are, unless there is evidence that can be scientifically investigated and the claimed supernatural event can be repeated under observation.

Technically I'd have to say that you can get a donut hole without a donut. The hole is just a void given shape by the surrounding material. It's always there just not always recognisable as a hole in a donut :)

http://www.big-bang-theory.com/ Should be useful to you if it's confusing, but don't worry very few people completely understand the theory much less the mathematics behind it :D
Be warned though, this website is actually a creationist/ID cover site so while it gives a decent enough explanation it is certainly biased in its tone.
