I think the answer to this question is that it is all relative to the individuals involved.
My wife and I were together for 4 years prior to getting married at the age of 20, and we've been married now for 5 years. We were much more mature than many of our friends at the time, but probably weren't ready. The good thing though is that our relationship has changed and matured over time and we are really looking forward to spending the rest of our lives with each other. Marrying young isn't for everybody though and it comes with its own obstacles. One of the main things I see as a problem for young married couples compared to couples that get married later is that even though two people may be mature enough to get married I don't think that automatically makes them mature enough to raise a child. We weren't ready then and still feel like we have some living to do before we take on that commitment. Nobody will be able to tell you when you are ready but yourself. When you are ready you will know it.
