If one is baptised Catholic while they always remain Catholic

Baptism is nothing more than symbolic. Catholicism is a theory of God that many believe in. Catholicism is a theory of God that many hate. Catholicism, of itself, is nothing. Catholicism exists equally for those that believe in it or hate it. Without belief or hatred, Catholicism would not exist.

Society would not consider someone who says they are no longer a Catholic as Catholic, of course.
Depends who society is. I've been a non-believer for a long time, and when I was in high school I used to get taunts from my 'Protestant' friends. I was Catholic they were Protestant - even though none of us believed in God. I've since known people who looked upon me as filth because I was baptised. The weirdest thing is, I still feel like "being a Catholic" is a small part of my identity, probably reinforced by that kind of sectarianism which is prevalent where I grew up.
