If God exists and God desires that one should live according to the "holy book", God could have embedded this knowledge in each and everyone of us so that we all would be born with this inherent knowledge, or God could come in front of us and say "you should live in such a way" - but why didn't he do this?

This question was asked in one of my previous post to which it was answered -
  1. "well, then everything would be reveled which shouldn't be" ;
  2. "then there would be too much compulsion to follow this religion or book" .
But God did this to Prophet Mohammed? strange, isn't it? Especially to someone whose morals are par below present day standards.

If one has a longing for something (wish to - read a news paper/drink coffee early in the morning) and if one happened to do that continuously for 30 or so days, then he/she has formed a new habit - and habits are very compulsive in nature.
Religious rituals (daily prayers etc) when done continuously for 30 days or so easily becomes a habit, and this makes it very hard to break free from this. So regular religious rituals are much more effective "compulsion agent" than God coming to us and giving us directions.

Moreover, what if God reveals something (orders to stop following this particular religion or alter some text of Koran) to someone - how many of you can accept this? Most probably one (believers) would say he is insane and that it would be Satan who appeared in front of him. If sharia law is to be executed - give him a 1000 lashes and kill him.

So why did you believe the story (about prophet Mohammed and Gabriel) to be truthful in the first place?

If God exists and if that God is loving something or somebody like Satan cant exist.

Also Muhammad wasnt that bad of a guy. I would compare him to King David or King Solomon of the bible.

It appears this thread was more intended for Muslims but if I may as a Hindu/Advaita type chime in with the thought that God is already the core of our consciousness and the goal is realization of that fact by gradually reducing our ego-identification and through expanding our identification by love for all.

That said, teachers like Mohammed can bring teachings from a higher realm down to man to help mankind at various parts of its journey. And by their fruits you shall know them. Are they encouraging brotherly love and goodness? We intuitively recognize these things as right (even atheist-humanists) as God consciousness is in our core.

Can't exist forever.
First, Satan will be abyssed for a thousand years - Revelation 20:1-3
Then, liar Satan will end up in a symbolic ' second death ' - Revelation 21:8
Satan is a sinner and ALL sinners die.
Jesus' ransom covers MANY - Matthew 20:28
Says MANY and Not ALL because Not all will repent - 2 Peter 3:9; Hebrews 6:4-6; Matthew 12:32
Sinner Satan won't repent and Jesus will destroy Satan - Hebrews 2:14 B
So, ' second death ' is a fitting term for: destruction. Such as at Psalms 92:7 that the wicked will be annihilated.

Satan challenges all of us - Job 2:4-5 - that ' touch our flesh ' ( loose physical health ) and we would turn away from God.
Time was needed to prove Satan a liar and both Job and Jesus did that by remaining faithful to God under adverse conditions.
Plus, time was needed for us to be born, and think who we would like as Sovereign over us - God or Satan.
When we choose to disobey God, then we are choosing Satan as ' god ' 2 Corinthians 4:4
If Satan was destroyed right away it could always be said that Satan's way was better, so the passing of time has shown that Satan's way can Not bring Peace on Earth.

Agreed.

There are great people who work to enlighten the society or try to take the society from dark ages - and it is a step by step process. I am talking about those people who say " we should aim to live like Propeht Mohammed -no more further advance in morals are allowed. So sharia laws are to be kept and followed as such" There are many more great teachers out there -even among them. Why can't they accept them?

Religious people can hardly accept people from other religions. Are people from other religions or atheist allowed at mecca?
