If there is only one true God, why argue?

We look at a famous "new" artist that has made their debut. Let's say um..her name was
Candi Cone. Candi releases a song and a few ****e merchandise items. People go crazy over her
and soon Candi has a following of millions. Does that make Candi good singer/artist? Because she
was hyped/pushed through the media?

My point is that if millions follow the one thing, but follow it either a)because others have "told them" it is what to follow or b)it has a lot of hype and is publicised throughout the world, does that make it true? Does it make it correct?
That really was an unfortunate typo error! - or was it ?
And, again, you are using that word 'true'.

If I say that a piece of music is beautiful, and you like it too, when I say "That's a beautiful piece of music; fantastic!"

You would say "True." - but what about Darkdale who hates that genre ? - it wouldn't be tru for him.

I prefer Culture, Tradition and beliefs. Those are solid words that announce themselves as being subjective. Right and wrong don't do so, but they are just as subjective, in my mind.

Culture, Tradition and Belief are all excellent terms. (doesn't mean there isn't objective truth, it just means that objective truth doesn't matter when what you are talking about are traditions. Also, the idea that all beliefs need to be based on objective truth is unnecessary and has never been shown to be all that reasonable a speculation).

MICH I had no idea what you were on about, but my point was, that if many people follow the same thing, is it necessarily true? Many follow God, but is it the true God?

it sort of reminds me of a "He said, She said" fight within a family that doesn't get together very often...

and when they do all they do is fight.

No, quantity does not necessarily equal quality especially when someone is discerning/regarding Truth.

Well, you an do two things; one is to get in the queue, and follow the masses - but you could excuse yourself, go to the head of the queue and speak to God himself, and ask him. You'll know, alright.

If we are all driving to the beach for the day, does it make any sense to argue over the route, as long as we get there?
It makes sense if you live in Kansas.
Actually, if you live in Kansas, just don`t get in the car.

What is wrong with the possibility that a person is could be 'wrong' in what they believe?
You could burn in hell for being wrong.

Linwood,

I'm not actually aware of anywhere in the Bible where we are told that we will burn in Hell for being wrong. I believe that God knows the condition of our hearts and loves us deeply. If you, for instance, believe in the Trinity and I don't, do you believe I'll burn in Hell? I'm fully expecting to see lots of people in Heaven whose beliefs were different from mine. The way I see it, no honest misunderstanding of doctrine is going to be grounds for God to send anyone to Hell.
