If you could have a face-to-face conversation with god...

What if that person merely told you to do what you think you should do and to think for yourself by contemplating the results of your actions?
Sounds great! But I need more help because I have a history of poor judgement. I have learned a lot from my mistakes and come a long way however. I used to need to be restrained physically and injected with antipsychotics.

I guess I should look more at my progress rather than perfection.

I sort of believed that Yahweh is one of the gods who is jealous and trying to gain power over all of them and make Devotion to the other gods a forbidden taboo practice.

So far, he's done a job of it that has met with significant success.

Maybe. Seems my understanding of the one-god is different than your baseline. For me, the one-god is deliberately numinous, obtuse, ineffable, inexplicable, and totally beyond any human comprehension or understanding. The cute stories many humans tell about that god that anthropomorphize? Narrative tools, not to be taken too seriously. So for me, if that god somehow appeared, such an act would directly contradict its incomprehensible, transcendent nature. It means it couldn't be the one-god.

Urgh. It's stupid how I have a concept of the one-god even though it isn't my theology.

It's hard to know who to listen to when I don't know who speaks for God. Somebody's right and a lot of people are wrong, or everybody's wrong

Sure, but that'd lead me at the very least to think that listening to everyone and weighing what they have to say against the evidence I have and can gather would be the best way to solve that problem.

Not sitting down and shutting down, hoping for the clouds to part and all the answers to be easily presented.

But then I just really don't understand the purpose of your complaint-posts here. If you aren't going to listen to other people why start a dialog at all?? Why not just quietly wait for the literal miracle you are hoping for to show you the way?? I'm trying to figure out the mindset you are in and failing utterly to comprehend. :p

But then again I have a wholly alien mindset in comparison it seems. I for one would loathe a world where the answers came easy and no effort on my part was ever required to learn things. Just... no room for growth or the feeling of elation that comes with discovery there.

In answer to the OP... I'm not even sure what I'd ask or if I'd ask anything. I'd rather discover things on my own initiative then have easy answers. I'd probably waist my question on a joke, something like "So when will George R.R. Martin finish the next book already??"

It isn't that I don't listen to people. I do. Some people have said very insightful things. It's just I don't know which statements are true.

Sometimes I'm just frustrated and need to vent and people give good responses.

I don't think there's anything I could converse with Krishna about that he and Arjuna didn't already converse about. Besides, I'd probably be too dumbstruck to do anything more than stutter, if I could do even that.

I would lecture God about charity and how cruel he is in his refusal to help out those who are in agony. I would lecture him about how cruel it is to leave people in confusion and delusion, when he could give everyone understanding and guide them to the truth.

I don't believe you would say or think any of that. I believe you (or I) would be so overwhelmed by the glory, splendor, love, and compassion that emantes from his being, that you would fall to your knees in humility and respect. You would want to embrace the Lord. Once you got ahold of your senses and could utter a word, it would probably be nothing but praise. Eventually you or I would be able to get around to asking questions on the mysteries of life. Any misconceptions we have about God's personality would vanish in an instant. His presence is so powerful, so virtuous, and so righteous, that we can hardly fathom what it will be like.

Why is it a matter of being right or wrong? One man's truth is another's blasphemy, so to speak.

In response to the OP I'd probably ask what he was smoking when he created the platypus

If that "god" was like a human, with human-like behavior I would doubt it was a god.

I would ask why it was so useless and why it doesn't seem to matter one way or another whether it exists or not. I already know the answer, but whatever.

What would you say? Assuming God showed up and was speaking with you clearly, and you would have had no more doubts that God exists.

I would lecture God about charity and how cruel he is in his refusal to help out those who are in agony. I would lecture him about how cruel it is to leave people in confusion and delusion, when he could give everyone understanding and guide them to the truth.

I would give him a lecture about being faithful to your word, which he has not been... (Then again, I'm not convinced any longer that the Bible is his word.)

Id demonstrate that if I were all-powerful like him, the world would be a better place... I would heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, feed the hungry, Enlighten the confused, speak clearly to people, and the world would be far better off.

If Only God would make me as omnipotent as he is, I absolutely would do a better job. If only he would give me that Grace, I'd most certainly prove it to him and to you.

I'm trying to imagine a person showing up personally to help a charity and being lectured by the one running the charity about not showing up to help for the past ten years - sounds like we have an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in the making.:p

I'd say, OMG! (pun intended), how could you?! Now I no longer have the free will you gave me--at which point I'd disappear in a vapor of pointlessness.

You seem very pompous and arrogant. If I could actually meet an all-powerful being, I don't think I would "lecture" it. If anything, I would probably ask it about the mysteries of the universe, or what the theory of everything is that unites relativity and quantum mechanics.

Considering that I'm schizophrenic and I often think voices are Aliens or a higher power, I'd say the best way to carry a conversation is just normally.

An example is I have this chess coach who's very good. I just try to forget that he's really good and play normally.

I have met many very incredible people and that rule always seems a winner.

I believe God gets first say over what enters into heaven
you move on down the list of people there......
and maybe you get lucky....someone will mentor your presence

in spite of God's disapproval
