I felt the need to fact-check this story, because given the place supposedly targeted are the only articles we were provided with (bias much?) I demanded more references. So here are a few other references on the story:

Does anyone honestly think sugary breakfast cereals should be eaten more often than once in awhile? It is problematic in that these products are mostly marketed towards children as a regular/every day sort of thing, but that's not even the topic. A company finds a certain blog to not align with their values, and they pull advertising. I don't even see how it's an issue, or anything other than a current event. It's what lots of companies do, and why shouldn't they?

Cereal is incredibly lacking in nutrition, especially in comparison to the things I normally consume for breakfast. I usually workout an hour or so after breakfast, and cereal just doesn't provide the fuel necessary to go in and push myself as hard as I'd like to.

These types of foods (if you can call them that) are loaded in flash carbs (low to no dietary fiber) so they spike your blood sugar high followed by an abrupt crash right after your body's insulin kicks in. They're useless for any purpose except giving you diabetes as your body gains insulin resistance or making you obese. Being obese also increases your insulin resistance and makes you spike even harder, since the hormone becomes less and less effective over time.

Take your carbs from fruits and veggies since it'll be bound with fiber and give you a nice constant boost over a long period of time. You can also just switch to low amounts of carbs (25% of daily, based on weight) and go high protein/healthy fats. Your body is able to convert the fats to energy the same way it does the sugars but it is unlikely to spike you so stamina won't be a problem. Make sure you are getting all your vitamins too, because poor quantities will prevent metabolic regulation. You can look awesome on the outside and still have terrible plumbing. :D

-sugary, +any

You actually should never eat any of them, based on the ingredients on the box. Enriched flour, oats, wheat, and anything else unless it is 100% whole grain are just poison. It's only slightly better in the whole grain variety if it has more dietary fiber than it does sugars. AKA, nearly never.

Personally, I don't care about Kellogg very much since they are hawking poison like tobacco companies. I think think that it's sort of childish of them to pull ads when they had been running them for a long time on that site.

Every once in awhile isn't going to hurt you. And, yes, do read the ingredients. A number of Kellogg's cereals, including the sugary ones, are made with whole grains. They even make some that are a "step above" with bran. They even make many that are whole grain and not sugary.
And, realistically, the occasional sugary treat isn't going to hurt you. It's when you eat too many and too often that they become a problem.

I eat bran flakes daily, though not from kellogg's. They have very little added sugar (and I add none) they are mostly whole wheat with added bran an some malt. Perhaps not as good for the heart as oats, but better than a fried breakfast by a long way.

Breitbart is just the right wing version of the Huffington Post. I don't trust anything posted there without some confirmation from somewhere else.

Well, not for me. :D I am a strict low carb diet because they make me feel like crap and rather show muscle than fat. I eat the absolute minimum required for body functions / health -- that's it. Anyway, the sugar negates anything good about them -- the gmos just double down. None of this applies to things like oatmeal, etc, of course... Where you control the additives.

GMOs are a problem for me as well. But I do think societal pressure on that issue will eventually cause the "state pillars" that support their loose research and real concerns to crumble, much like it eventually did with tobacco.
As for me, I'm more concerned about some of the obnoxious air even in smaller cities than I am the occasional fountain soda or whatever, especially since I get at least a decent amount of physical activity throughout the day. Of course I could do more, but I also tend to pace when I think. And, oddly, I consider a good workout to be one of the few true escapist behaviors, or maybe it's not odd. A good jump for the heart, and not sore or hurting but a well worked body, soaked in sweat, and always staying focused on making your body get through the next rep. It's no wonder the physical discipline of martial arts in the East is paired with a mental/spiritual awareness. Nothing else matters when you have to be that aware and present, focused and driven. I'll definitely take an 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours a day to be totally away from everything than that time spent with it.

Oh, I was just kidding. I quite liked Andrew Breitbart but stopped visiting his website shortly after his sudden death as I felt a change in the content at that point. I've never gone back, really.

Oh, oatmeal.... Mmmmmm..... yep, that's another favorite at Chez Ymir. As you say, all the additives in it are whatever I put in it.

Actually, it is one of the healthiest things you can have. :D Add cinnamon and it'll keep you from getting fat to by improving your blood glucose uptake. :D

Serving Kellog's does not make me a bigot any more than sitting in my garage makes me a car.

Mrs Revolt's favorite poison is Kashi.
I have no favorite cereal, but I like Raisin Bran mixed in with various granolas.
I don't care about Kellogg's advertising policy.
They & other companies may do as they please.
Most cereals are full of sugar and that's why kids love them, I never heard of Kashi ?.

I don't eat my cereal for political reasons.

I eat it because I like it.

My life is not that superficial.
