I believe there are a lot of socio-economic factors in play here that aren't being addressed. In short, this is a gross over simplification of a very complex discussion.

Well, if Aliya Mustafina can keep from falling off the beam through the rest of these Olympics you may have to add to the Muslim score.

The religion has nothing to do with it. It just so happens that the countries with the most winners are predominantly Christian, the US for example. Also because Christianity is the largest religion in the world it would be assumed that the majority of any group pulled from around the world would be Christian. I would further assume that the lack of winners from faiths like Hinduism and Islam is due to lack of participation from their respective countries or poor training programs.

Do you think that if I convert real quickly, that I can get a medal in Rio?
I might do OK in the shooting sports if I can get a couple dozen
one in a million shots on target.

You're getting close here to the fallacy.

Perhaps God is really tipping the scales in favor of his followers? A scary number of Americans seem to think such things are possible.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/01/30/american-believe-god-sporting-event/1877535/

27 percent of Americans believe God plays a role in sporting events

More than one-quarter of Americans believe God plays a role in determining which team wins a sporting event, according to a new poll by the Public Religion Research Institute.

The survey of 1,033 adults also found that 53 percent of Americans believe God rewards athletes who have faith.
