Because we are human we can only look at the small picture of the things that are immediately around us. As human beings we are selfish. No matter what I say I would do right now, if given control over the world I would make my own life better. The problem with that is whether I meant to or not, because I cannot see the big picture of the world as a whole, I would change other peoples lives without wanting or meaning to.

I'd wish for a wallet that has a twenty-dollar bill in every time I go lookin for one and a 63 1/2 Ford Mustang.

Aside from that, I'd just let things flow and do what they do. I like the universe just as it is, and I want to ride this **** out. I might ask for little things every now and then. A pack of smokes. A temporary period of time wherein myself and my friends are immune from the law. Crap like that.

Although I'd probably wanna smoke some hashish with the genie. That would be hilarious.

EDIT: On second thought, there would be times when I'd move the power towards really powerfully extraordinary. But it would an observe-and-choose kind of thing, just as I act today. It would not a case of "Boom. I have this power. Let's get to the cleanup list, yeah?" That kind of power needs to be limitedly used, lest it lend itself towards abuse.

First wish: the wisdom to figure out how to permanently eradicate suffering.
Second wish: permanently eradicate suffering.

Doesn't that ignore the value of suffering, though? In suffering, we learn to take responsibility for ourselves and escape it on our own. This is why, despite all the teaching in the world, all people must escape suffering on their own. We can be there to support those who suffer, we can help catch them when they fall and help stand them back up. But they must walk on their own. To walk for them is an insult to their power.

I would wish for the genie to be destroyed. Power can corrupt and in the hands of selfish people, it could be fatal. I think that we avoid making wishes, etc; people should learn to solve and prevent their own problems. In doing so, people are able to learn the hard way, and learn to value the virtues of life itself.

I'd lay out the universe a giant chessboard!

I would probably become a physical form (hey, I'd be God, I could become physical if I wanted!) with all the powers of the non-physical.

I'd create an incredibly simple set of economic laws (I'd call them something that was a pun on the 10 commandments (I'd have the ability to make up great puns)), which worked all the time, in every situation.

And there would be no end to the universe.

And I wouldn't test people.

Were I god, or had divine powers, like being the son of god, or whatever… Hmmm. What would I do? :sarcastic

I would make a difference to the world! By doing things like getting people at weddings pissed out of their heads by turning water into wine. I’d curse fig trees for not bearing fruit while out of season. I’d walk on water for a laugh. I’d be incredibly prejudiced against people not of my own ethnicity.

What? What do you expect me to do with divine powers? Turn all deserts into arable land? Cure cancer? Why on earth would I want to do that?!

First thing I would do is poof every creationist and fundie out of existence. After that I think I would severely abuse the ability to turn water into wine(or jack daniels, captain morgan, smokes, money, etc)
