Ignore feature

Could someone explain to me how ignore works here? Can I put a fellow poster on ignore, and if so, what do I have to do?

First, you need a lock of their hair and a personal item of theirs.

Then you must place these items in a wooden box and place it in a fire, while chanting "this poster no longer exists," until the box and its contents are burned to ash.

Or you could just not look at nor comment on their posts... Just sayin'.

Someone offered to put me on ignore and then fruballed me. I was happier when I thought I was on ignore, so I'm hoping they'll take the hint.

I can't see any of the above posts.

Anyway, I can't put anyone on ignore.
I'm too curious.
(And I might be missing a good flame war.)

Ignore is my favourite feature. I use it mostly to prevent myself from getting sucked into stupid, derailing side conversations full of insults and nonsense, for which I have a pronounced weakness.

That's hilarious and so true from what I've noticed about you. One thing I like very much though is that you rarely, if ever, get insulted or hold a grudge and you've been involved in some of the most heated exchanges I've seen here. Bravo for you!

I know. I am trying to protect the rest of you from my combative impulses. Somewhat. :D I don't take any of this personally. I see it as a kind of a video game. The exchange of barbs can be fun because it gives me a chance to try to channel my inner Mark Twain or GB Shaw, but it gets tedious pretty fast, especially when people just start spouting nonsensical gibberish that they hope will get under my skin (fat chance) instead of attempting to employ wit and humour in their ribbing.

Speaking of which, I've actually got a couple people to add to that list, come to think of it.

Thank you for the compliment, by the way. I would hate for my nature to make this a less pleasant place for you to be.

So, what does ignore do exactly, I mean other than save energy and decrease decomposition? (whatever those are)

Do posts of the ignorant (the ignored?!?!?) don't show to me, mine don't show to them, both, or something else perhaps?

Oh, I never ignore anyone. I respect everyone. Well, normally that is.

Their posts don't show to you. Yours still show to them unless they put you on ignore.

I think you can still respect people while not reading their posts for a while. :)
