I'm 27 and I don't want to be reincarnated

I want to follow my dreams but I don't want to be reincarnated if I'm unsuccessful in this lifetime.

I don't want to go to school and college all over again

What to do?

As Guru Gobind Singh stated, " Egotism is such a terrible disease, he dies, to be reincarnated he continues coming and going."

Egotism is created by vasanas, which is the source of your cravings and aversions. Destroy all your vasanas through yoga, and refuse to perform any egocentric actions under the influence of cravings and aversions. Identify the necessary duties to perform, and perform them without the feverish craving for results.

You can end egotism in this manner, and reincarnation as well.

Look on the bright side. Maybe next time you'll be born as a super genius, and graduate in a couple of years as a child prodigy with a bright future.

Are you aware that in most understandings of reincarnation there is a lengthy (variable) period of times between lives to assimilate those lessons learned and missed in the last life. At some point your soul may decide, that it needs a lesson to really learn from experience. Your soul may then start a new incarnation with the right circumstances available.

It is a good system by a designer who knows more of what we want than we do.

Seriously though, if you're going to spend the rest of your life worrying about your next life.....

My advice is leave it up to that fellow when he's comes around, you got your own affairs to take care of right now than worrying about somebody else who isn't even been born yet.

If it's that bad, just write a letter to your future self and sock it away somewhere. Make it a time capsule and hope he or she finds it.

The best thing is, you'll have no idea that you've ever been through it before. It'll be all new and interesting.

Yes indeed:

I just want to visit the countries I wish to visit in this lifetime; I'm already halfway through countries I want to see (this year I'm going a second time to countries I've already been to I.e. USA, Canada and India but next year I want to see Japan and South Korea)

I also want to be successful in MMA.

I don't really want to go through all the pain and hardships of being overweight and unfit and bad at MMA all over again. And I don't want to do school and college again

Here’s a thought. You think it is new this time. But is it? And whatever happens next time you will think it is new. Only your soul memory remembers it all.

you won't be reincarnated, it's a made up concept to prevent ppl from falling into Nihilism

Reincarnation does have a factual basis.

You can go through the works of Dr. Brian Weiss, Dr Michael Newton, Dr. Ian Stevenson and others to understand this aspect which they have discovered through hypnotic regression.

There are meditative techniques also available to remember the psychological memories of past lives, in India.

Well in the Buddhist worldview you can aspire to enlightenment, but reincarnation is part of that process. Another option in my school is you can ask a Buddha to take you to their Pure Land, so you can learn from them and receive a better rebirth. You could also ask a deity to take you to their deity/deva-field, but this doesn't guarantee lasting benefit.

There is a hope in becoming Buddhists from a traditional Mahayana perspective, and that is when we put our faith in the Triple Gem- we are sealed as aspirants to the Bodhisattva way, and by the Buddha's merits will not reincarnate into a lesser life.

Just as well. You won't remember this life anyways once you die.

There are some people who remember. There are cases of children and people all over the world remembering their past lives, even in western and muslim countries, which shows that it is not emerging in the background of a conditioned beliefset.

I have read many such . The above pdf was put by a rf member Venugopal in the Resources Forum.

I don't deny the Skandhas might make people seem to recall. The Skandhas are part of rebirth by some Buddhist understanding, but it may not be universal.

True, it is not universal. Just some freak cases of one in a million where there is total recall.

Oh, Ian Stevenson again. Are the reports available in the pseudo-science section of Religious Forums?
