I'm sick of it.

That's not what I'm talking about.

They're both stupid enough to buy into this whole "He is worse than I am" bollocks.

It's ridiculous that none seem to be able to run a campaign only talking about their own good points, rather than an opponent's negatives.

Perhaps if the American public would read a book, spend more time with their kids and stop watching the boob tube every spare minute, their wouldn't be all this nonsense to begin with, right?

I don't have a problem with one candidate talking about what's wrong with the other one's policies, or even his record, if it's accurate. I have a huge problem with talking about some irrelevant person the other candidate met once, or something. It's ridiculous and ineffectual.

In a "logical" debate..You would point out your opponents weakneses...Thats part of the process...Its shouldnt be 99.999999% of what you discuss I agree...
It's only in a two-party system that "don't vote for him" automatically implies "vote for me".

I wonder what it would take to get a viable third party in the US.

Changing your government entirely. You'd need to instigate an MMP or similar. Basically, you'd need a parliament where the number of seats a party gets is proportional to the votes.

Changing to that, I can see, will meet a LOT of resistance. Especially by the ones who currently stand to lose power as a result.
