They do, but they have a smaller region to govern. I think the country seems too big to be governed by the parliamentary system.
Do you mean geographically or smaller population? Because India has a similar system with a much larger population, and Canada has the same thing with a larger area.

Geographically. 50 states and 50 different ways of doing things. We want the states to act independently in many ways, somewhat like separate countries. They each have a small military for example and their own elected bodies. I don't think it would be a good idea for us to remove the 3rd branch and make it the puppet of one of the other branches. Already we have a lot of power bloat and over centralization, partly out of necessity, but partly unnecessary and interfering.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
This widespread & fervent hatred of not just the President,
but also the voters for the opposition is new to me.
I hope that once Trump is gone, the lefties become more
tolerant.
Sometimes I think we should go full-blown socialist. The lefties would be appeased , I would enjoy the handouts during the honeymoon phase , and when it bottoms out Greece or Venezuela style, I'll assuredly be long gone in my grave by then.

I suppose that's why all the old guys mellow out over time and play checkers and leave the politics to the young uns to deal with.

Re: The Impeachment.

Mitch-the-Traitor and his Putin-owned buddies, have openly said their minds are already made up, regardless of guilt or no.

Try this next time you are up for Jury Duty:

Tell the judge, that you personally know the Defendant.
Tell the judge, that you will ignore any and all evidence, but will vote to acquit no matter what.
Tell the judge, that you intend to keep in touch with the Defendant, all during the trial, too, keeping the Defendant up to date on everything.
Tell the judge, that you happily took money from the Defendant, for exactly these things.

See how long you can stay out of jail.

BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MITCH-THE-TRAITOR HAS JUST SAID AND DONE.
I'm the outsider Canadian, and I'm watching and listening to this carefully. I have to say (though I can't claim to be impartial--I dislike Trump) that this is an appallingly partisan process, and that the Republicans that I listen to are among the worst hypocrites I've ever heard.

We know where this will go -- it will be a partisan vote in the Senate that does not remove.

But here is a truth (something that Schiff said in his opening remarks) -- the story will come out. People will eventually write books, those involved will talk to reporters, it's going to come out. Just as new info is being released by Giuliani's flunky twits, and as the GAO makes clear that the withholding of Ukraine's relief funds was ILLEGAL.

IF ALL THIS COMES OUT BEFORE THE ELECTION, then there is a very real possibility that the Republican party will take a very big hit. Even fairly stupid people know when they're being lied to.

I'd have to give up too much if socialism were imposed.
And I really don't want to call everyone "Komrad".

Let's see. you have called me an idiot, accused me of not thinking, and insulted me personally...and why? Because I don't agree with you politically. I haven't done the same to you. No wonder the country is so divided, when your half of the conversation is that rude.
The truth is upsetting, I'm sure. But that can't be helped.

To be fair, both sides have become less tolerant of the other, or perhaps it is just more visible due to the Internet and our ability to instantly communicate and do so anonymously.

This is similar to how generational gaps seem to be magnified due to social media. You have boomers complaining about millenials eating Tidepods and millenials complaining about the intolerance of boomers. You have rights complaining about snowflakes and lefts complaining about deplorables.

These little complaints become hatreds as we are constantly exposed to them as we access them via these little devices we always have on us.

We need to adjust culturally to adapt to this technology that allows us to be constantly tuned in to the opinions and ideas of others who can be transparent with these in their anonymity.

Nah.
The left is quite abusive towards Trump voters because of their vote.
But Trump voters don't abuse Hillary fans simply for voting for her.
And it's not just here.....I see (experience) it IRL.
Dem friends are furious that I voted for Trump.

Only amending our Constitution will have a lasting effect. Whether thru the convention of States method or the regular difficult process, these words should be added after the line about the House having 'sole power' to impeach:

And no Person shall be impeached without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Save one word, this is borrowed from the Senate section regarding their 'sole power' to try an impeachment case.

Even the Dems in the States should support this, if they are concerned about the Republicans taking over the House and using the same partisan voting block to impeach a Dem President.

Rethinking this notion a little more, suggest changing the wording of the proposed amendment to the House section. The House section does not apply only to the office of President. This change below permits a simple majority vote for all other impeachments of judges, members etc.

No President shall be impeached without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

(shaking head)

that's the ticket. When told that one has been rude, double down. You have just proven why an entire generation of people have made 'adult' into a verb complete with conjugation..."to adult," "adulted" "adulting" "will adult" "did adult" "might have adulted," "should have adulted," It's to turn something expected of everybody of a certain age into something one may choose to do, or not to do, according to one's whim, mostly so that one can get out of being an adult without being criticized for it.

No kidding. I know of more than a few people out here who are closet conservatives. They would (and some have) lost their jobs and careers over their conservative political opinions. On the other hand, I don't know anybody who has lost a teaching position, or a reporting job, or an entertainment gig, over being left wing.

There are none more intolerant than those who so loudly preach tolerance at us, eh.
