I was thinking the same thing.... hate to say it, but I've never been a fan of these things... too much room for fraud and it does VERY LITTLE to add to any Catholics rational faith.
Hey FFH, see this?

I haven't researched the other's on display. Is it possible to preserve a body for 500 years as perfectly as many of these saints appear, clearly displayed for all to see ????
I've know 2 people who have been "miraculously" cured of incurable Grave's disease. That may be so, if you for instance had cancer and then it miraculously disappeared and your life spared...
Fine. And if she had not lead a saintly life, it would be a mere curiousity and of no importance.A body that does not decay and still has a normal flesh color, no grey tones, is a miracle.
So what about the Buddhist and Hindus that it happened to? Is it a miracle with them as well? Or is it only the Christians that it can be a miracle to? Why only Catholics though? Why couldn't other Christian faiths have something like this? Perhaps if we dug up Joseph Smith he would be like this and it would be proclaimed a miracle and everyone would join our church.

Great link thanks a bunch...Joan Carroll cruz writes a good book about this displaying pictorial and medical evidence m=for many cases in her book called the incorruptibles. In the end its just one more miraculous way that proves the Catholic Church is the true church of Christ and hold true doctrine

I hope that helps.
God bless you!

Do you have any proof of that or are you just making that up ??? You need to back up what you say otherwise it's nothing but your opinion...Are you aware that she's coated in wax? You can't see any of her actual flesh.

Even if she had some sort of make-up on, her body is completely intact, is this not a miracle ????
What body remains completely intact, without freezing it ???
Show me that body...
This is a special saint of God, Bernadette of Lourdes. France.
Also someone mentioned her clothes, which were replaced, I believe, the old ones having deteriorated..
What body remains completely intact, without freezing it ???
In 1925, the church exhumed the body for a third time. They took relics, which were sent to Rome. A precise imprint of the face was molded so that the firm of Pierre Imans in Paris could make a light wax mask based on the imprints and on some genuine photos. This was common practice for relics in France, as it was feared that although the body was mummified, the blackish tinge to the face and the sunken eyes and nose would make an unpleasant impression on the public. Imprints of the hands were also taken for the presentation of the body. The remains were then placed in a gold and glass reliquary in the Chapel of Saint Bernadette at the motherhouse in Nevers. The site is visited by many pilgrims and the body of Saint Bernadette to this day remains incorrupt despite being nearly one hundred and thirty years old.[citation needed]
This link my friend says something about it. THE BODY OF SAINT BERNADETTE OF LOURDES

And since this is modern times, irradiation to kill bacteria (like is used on some meats and dairy products) followed by methods to prevent exposure to air and airborne bacteria and mold spores.
FFH, in the absence of bacteria and mold, biomass does not break down.
Ask any composter.
Wiki saith:
It's a well-known fact that a wax likeness of Bernadette was laid over her relics, and the Catholic Church doesn't pretend otherwise; nobody is trying to fool anybody. If a body doesn't decompose, it still dries out, and the features sink, etc. Here's a pic of the relics of Father John the Romanian, an Orthodox saint who died in 1960, to give you an idea:Do you have any proof of that or are you just making that up ??? You need to back up what you say otherwise it's nothing but your opinion...
Wow, great link thanks. Sorry I doubted your claims...This link my friend says something about it. THE BODY OF SAINT BERNADETTE OF LOURDES

This is obviously something I've never really looked into enough to know all the facts, thanks for setting me straight..
Her body, it seems, was still more intact than it normally would be.
Should we dismiss it as just a body that did not decompose normally for some reason ???
How decomposed was she, before they touched/fixed her up ? Do we have photos of that ?????
Didn't the Egyptians do this first?

Fair enough...*sigh* Have you even bothered to read the Wiki article section about natural mummification, FFH?
It's a *natural* process, though clearly pretty rare.
It is more reasonable to assume that St. Bernadette's condition is due to this known and observed natural process than to assume some sort of supernatural intervention.
Why invoke the supernatural when the natural will explain it just fine?
