Inflation and the Election

Shows how little you really do pay attention to things. I never said control inflation, I said he caused inflation. I also noticed you added in world inflation now.
Incorrect. Biden didn't cause inflation. The pandemic did. What else do you need to learn the truth about?

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
And Biden has nothing to do with it. Don't you understand that prices across the WORLD are even higher than ours?
If anything, Trump's incompetence and mismanagement of the pandemic led to longer shutdowns and disruptions. More deaths.
Thus hurting corporations and supply chains for longer periods of time than should have happened.
The longer the shutdown and disruption, the higher the prices and inflation.
The reason prices are high is because corporations lost a lot of money during those 2 years and are making it all up now.
It has nothing to do with Biden, if anything he's helped get the prices lower more so than what Trump would have been able to accomplish.

Well., I didn't vote for either old rich white guy so there's that.

Yes, and economists know why. I listen to experts in the field. If it was just Biden's fault it could be traced to specific legislation of his. But no one on the anti-Biden side can do that. It would also be an America only problem and it is not. It is a worldwide problem. That means that is how we can tell it was not in reality due to the activities of only one world leader. If you want to blame something blame the pandemic.

Do you think that Biden controls all of the economies of the world? That would be quite the feat.
No, and I have never laid the blame at just Biden's feet.

There are plenty of articles available for free that offer explanations of how inflation was caused by consequences of the pandemic, mostly from supply problems. It was a global phenomenon. Biden was one of the few world leaders to mitigate the effects.
I hate to say this but I am not overly concerned about the rest of the world. But I've never blamed Biden for our inflation rate.

Incorrect. Biden didn't cause inflation. The pandemic did. What else do you need to learn the truth about?
No. Biden did. The pandemic was just an excuse to destroy everyone's businesses and livelihoods as well as institute censorship and oppressive legislation.

but I honestly think that a lot of people in the U.S. really did over-react.
Had Kamala won - would you be asking if Dems over-reacted about women' right?
Kamala had one candy in her basket and majority didn't fall for it.
BUT economy is a real issue unlike the so-called 'candy' she was trying to sell!;)

Unfortunately, though, the great majority of economists say that Harris's plans for the economy were much better than Trump's. So if the economy really is the "real issue," the voters just hurt themselves.

Lay out some of those plans because Kamala certainly didn't.
She was avoiding all interviews where follow up questions can be asked. She hid until the last day and then hid some more until her last speech!

If you mean continue the wars! Yeah! War is good for business when nothing else comes to mind!;)

You could, if you wanted, find them for yourself -- but of course, you don't want, so you won't.

Harris, as part of her economic agenda, has moved to address voter concerns about prices, the cost of housing, the cost of child and elder care and pushed for tax cuts targeting middle-and lower-income Americans.
She has also signaled support for the industrial policies championed by Biden designed to bolster US manufacturing for critical industries.
The contrast between the two candidates on the economy is central to the messages both campaigns are pushing in the final days of the race.
For the signatories of the letter, Harris’ message is the clear preference.
“Simply put, Harris’s policies will result in a stronger economic performance, with economic growth that is more robust, more sustainable, and more equitable,” the economists write.

Biden did sign some massive spending bills, thereby
increasing the deficit. It was also governments'
response to the pandemic, eg, Congress & Trump
paying people to not work, governors curbing
economic & travel liberties. All of which drove up
costs & prices.

Then why do you complain so much about inflation?
Becaiuse it negatively impacts my life every minute of every day. I cannot go out and make more money. I mean, I guess I COULD but I have been retired for months and months now. Close to a year and for several years before that, I only worked part time. I took a year off after my husband dropped dead.

Trump had the highest spending of any President in modern history.
Republican voters will always be the first people to complain about spending. Their opinion on the topic is irrelevant at this point.
If Republicans cared about spending and the deficit as much as they cry about it, they would never have supported Trump.
This reinforces my point that Republicans aren't aware of the facts and only go off feelings, emotions and what the herd is thinking.
In what world does someone hate spending yet support a massive spender? You can't fix this problem.

You brought it up quite often in arguments about the election. So that claim does not seem to make much sense. Why would you bring up a topic unrelated to the election?

And this exposes the MAGA voting thinking to be emotional and irrational. Unless they are into self-harm why would they vote for Trump? It's not the facts.

Let's note that many corporations are already getting prepared for tariffs and ordering inventory before Trump takes office. They know the tariffs are stupid and going to hurt business, Trump, the genius businessman (ignore the bankruptcies) doesn't.

Now Trump could still not impose tariffs, but big businesses aren't going to risk it. What this will mean to some companies is that they will have to invest now on inventory and store it, and won't have cash to pay wage increases or bonuses. So another level of harm before he even takes office.
