It was my polite way of saying that it's nonsense.I wondered that too.
Dissolved salts aren't referred to that way.

I don't know chemistry well enuf to go there. It was my polite way of saying that it's nonsense.
It doesnt take much to see the sense of it.I don't know chemistry well enuf to go there.
I recall from thermodynamics that mixingIt doesnt take much to see the sense of it.
The reason desalination takes a lot of energy
is impatience.
They're shrimp in 3rd world countries only. Prawns in advanced nations.
I'm the guy who eats everything on my plate, usually. I might pass on Dead Sea spaghetti....If i could i would use ocean water to cook spaghetti, as it is thought i use salted tap water of about the same salinity as ocean water
Salt ain't gasI recall from thermodynamics that mixing
gases increases entropy, & that separation
requires work (ie, energy).
I can only offer a googled response. What chemical bonds
Nah, I think the solution is obvious, we should (re-)start eating people.
No, but dissolving a solid in a fluidSalt ain't gas
So I can eat meat AND help destroy the world? Christmas is early!
No, that was @Revoltingest. I've only drawn the logical conclusion from his premises.Soylent Green? Is that you?
SooNo, but dissolving a solid in a fluid
increases entropy, & requires energy
to separate....same as gases.
So the Na and Cl ions is bonded to what?I can only offer a googled response.
Why does salt dissolve when mixed with water?
- When salt is mixed with water, the salt dissolves because the covalent bonds of water are stronger than the ionic bonds in the salt molecules.
As I recall, it could depend on the kind of salt.Soo
When the salt crystalizes
out of solution?
I am participating in this discussion as a total novice. I really can not offer an informed reply to you.So the Na and Cl ions is bonded to what?
Yep, as crystallisation only happens when the water evaporates - which requires energy.Soo
When the salt crystalizes
out of solution?
No so about the " only when".Yep, as crystallisation only happens when the water evaporates - which requires energy.
Well, technically and depending the kind of salt, you could also change the temperature or the pressure or add chemicals but all those require energy. No so about the " only when".
Well?Until cancer does me in, no effete namby pamby
vegetarian snowflake will win the war on bacon.
