Most people do not realize that the Roman Church has always been anti-capitalist. French priests were some of the people most responsible for the dissemination of Karl Marx's early works in the 20th century. I also think that most people do not realize that the Roman Church preaches that the Spirit is not confined to the Church, or even to Christianity, but that the Spirit is present in other religious traditions as well. Roman theology teaches that grace is present in non-Christians and non-believers, because it is illogical in our theological system to say that people are good without the grace of God. We are quite panentheistic, in that all good acts partake of the form of the good, which is God.
