International day of diplomats

The International Day of Diplomats is celebrated every year on October 24 since 2017, honouring the invaluable role that diplomats play in maintaining international relations, fostering peace, and promoting dialogue between countries.

The Role of Diplomats in Global Peace: Diplomats serve as the first line of communication between nations, crucial in preventing conflicts, promoting trade, and fostering cultural exchanges. Their work involves lengthy negotiations, policy-making, and conflict resolution.

In many ways, diplomacy helps avoid war and fosters dialogue between countries, making it a cornerstone of international peace efforts. Whether it is through multilateral organizations like the United Nations or direct bilateral negotiations, diplomats act as intermediaries who ensure that countries can maintain peaceful and productive relationships.

In addition to their more visible roles in negotiating treaties and representing their home countries, diplomats also work on humanitarian issues, provide consular services to citizens abroad, and facilitate international cooperation on global challenges such as climate change, migration, and public health crises.

War is a failure of diplomacy and it is said that the world wars could have been avoided if there were quality diplomats and diplomatic processes in place which would have prevented the botched negotiations then. The nations of the world make substantial investments in their military and only a fraction of that goes to creating a top-notch diplomatic corps.

I am hoping that this day can help people remember the value of diplomacy and dialogue in fostering peace and preventing conflicts, and place renewed emphasis on this platform again.

Actually diplomacy can be used to foster a war and achieve its objectives.

See, lawyers are supposed to safeguard the interests of the innocent and ensure justice is served.

But the large number of jokes on lawyers these days shows that most lawyers do not follow their natural duties and focus on the dough instead.

Some doctors subject their patients to unnecessary tests to generate more revenue for the hospital, but that does not mean the medical profession is inherently flawed.

Same goes for the unscrupulous diplomats as well.
