Order of the Serpent
The Order of the Serpent (O.S.) is a Left-Hand Path school of metaphysics, comprised of philosopher magic(k)ians who are dedicated to the accumulation and preservation of the knowledge, and undefiled wisdom, of the Prince of Darkness and the Black Arts. The focus and priority of the O.S. is the individual being and one’s personal journey and progression through life. It is a premise of the Order that we all have within ourselves individual hidden truths of our Higher Self, Form, or Ka. Our path and common goal is to uncover and ultimately become the very embodiment, and most complete and supreme manifestation, of these truths.
The Order is dedicated to the study and practice of Black Magic(k), or the Art of altering or changing one’s Subjective Universe, in order to produce a similar or proportionate change in the Objective Universe, in accordance with one’s Will. The creation of one’s personal belief systems and the forging of one’s own path in the great Work of Life are also of crucial importance to the O.S.
The Order works with many Platonic Forms (or Principles), however there is no central “god-head” of the Order. To us all “gods” are reflections of the manifold aspects of the Form or Principle of Isolate Intelligence, universally symbolized by the Prince of Darkness.
Rather than the common occult religions based on subjugation of the Self and union with the All, the O.S. holds the Self in sacred regard as a unique and independent entity worthy of exaltation and love, as well as eternal existence. The Order is focused on understanding the nature of the individual Self, what it needs and desires, and how to best achieve these ends while allowing and encouraging others to do the same.
The overall goal of the Order is Freedom of mind and will, control over oneself rather than being swept up in the ebb and flow of the natural order. It is this ability that has allowed human beings to rise above other animals, even highly intelligent ones, and become more than just the sum of their parts. We can question and manipulate nature, change it to reflect our own subjective will, which is the effect of Black Magic(k). Things like cognitive therapy and placebos without deception show us that the will can overcome environmental factors, natural predispositions, and even serious illness that would kill a member of any other species. The Order hopes and strives for a world in which the individual is put above all else, and is encouraged and aided in flourishing and growing. We also hope to raise respect for individuals over all, not just the personal self, and encourage a morality of equal opportunity (but not necessarily equal results).
Certain concepts are key to understanding the Order’s metaphysical philosophy. The Order accepts a form of Platonism, meaning that we accept the existence of an objective “realm of Forms”. This is not some otherworldly realm “out there”, but provides the essence for all things in the cosmos. Certain Forms or divine principles, like the Form of Knowledge, are considered gods by the Order due to the characteristics the Form carries matching definitions of divinity. For example, the Form of Knowledge would have to be considered all knowing, even if incapable of action. This makes the Order of the Serpent inherently polytheistic/henotheistic, though not in the anthropomorphic sense as in many other religions. The Order is dualistic, technically pluralistic, or embracing multiplicity, as opposed to being monistic. We view the mind and body as being categorically different, though accept emergence and the importance of the brain to the mind. Reality is simply a mixture of Forms, and the only underlying unity is the primordial chaos from which all arose, and the order that underlies all “creation” (generally referred to as capital G “God.”)
Members of the Order of the Serpent are extreme individualists, capable of working with a concept and formulating their own thoughts, ideas, and understandings. There is no single approach; our path is about the individual, and it is up to the individual to forge their own paths in life. Members of the Order are spiritual Alchemists who, through the Great Work - the process of Self-directed Self-evolution - strive to become an effective, potent force of mind and will, and thus are transformed from a mortal state into the essence of divinity. These are but a few of the objectives and interests focused on and explored by the Order's membership. The O.S. does not have some hierarchal system of degrees and initiations. All that is required of members is contribution; essays, videos, academic studies and resources, whatever can contribute to the goal of advancing human esotericism.
The Order of the Serpent derives its name from the northern circumpolar stars, which never set below the horizon, thus being free from the cycles of the sun, moon, planets. It was the original focus of afterlife and spiritual ideology, revolving around the North Star – at the time being Alpha Draconis in the Draco constellation. The Order attempts to remanifest these ancient, pre-solar/Osirian ideas in the modern world.
Please feel free to enquire with any questions or for membership into the Order.
