Is anyone else totally checked out yet?

Seriously, there are so many people and so many images and a seemingly endless amount of information. And it all doesn't really amount to much.

Is anyone else completely overwhelmed but how much nonsense is taking place per square inch on a planet that means nothing other than occupying space in a universe that means nothing?

EDIT: Mod... change "check" to "checked" in the title. Thanks.

Yup. I miss the days before the Internet in so many ways.
Aint that the truth. I've said this before, but it's worth repeating. I have a friend who never listens, reads or watches the news. She's basically oblivious to the world other than her own circle of family and friends. She's genuinely the happiest person I know.

Sure, but can a human body really handle enough of that stuff to soothe the mind sufficiently?
Temporarily, yes. :D

You're too serious, sweet heart. Lighten up, love yourself, be kind to yourself and let others be kind to you. You are an amazing guy. Just love everybody and forget the crap.

Yes, there is quite a bit of ruckus signifying a whole lotta nothing. So it goes.

Maybe hidden somewhere in that glut of data the meaning of the universe can be found. Have you read it all yet?

Perhaps the Internets will crash someday and we'll all be forced to meet each other in actual face to face encounters... Awkward...

Temporarily - "aye, there's the rub". Too often the world comes knocking at one's door. But it is possible to minimize the clatter by paying enough attention to the world to know what's going on but not getting caught up in the media fear/anger/confusion circus designed to keep your eyeballs glued to the ads. Disclosure: I'm not perfect at it by any means but it is my goal and I've found it possible to cut down drastically on how much attention I pay to the news.

Nope.

Selective hearing and attentions help.

Do I enjoy "cat videos"?

Sure.

Do such things affect my priorities?

No,

Believe what? That you're an amazing dude or all the other blather about love and kindness?

Oh, sorry, missed an important part there.

How deeply I'd like to believe that doing those things would be possible, and if they were, if it'd really help with the crushing anxiety of not doing enough constantly and not being able to identify what exactly is worth pursuing on a day to day basis and what will pay off.

I don't have a problem with people. But I am pretty exhausted with "hanging out," as it were. But mostly, I am tired of tending to continuous stream of stuff that I can't really keep up with or determine what the worth of any of it is.

I ignore the vast majority of stuff that floats my way. I don't even use a smart phone yet and barely understand how this ******' website even operates. I'm expected to be a next gen kid and yet I'm operating like an old school pagan. How do you think I feel??

True. :) Oftentimes with age comes the experience and tools to create balance in the world we choose to surround ourselves with. There's nothing wrong with an occasional alcohol induced respite from life's worries. It's our life's chore to find the sublimity, happiness and balance we need. No one does that for us.

Listen to the news, help in your community where you can and let the rest lay itself out on its own. We can only control ourselves and our attitudes. Trite, but true.
