Is Church-State Separation A Misnomer?

So are you agreeing, disagreeing, or neither, that this relationship is misnamed when called church-state separation?

You have it the wrong way around. You need to understand what people mean when they use the term "church-state separation". Usage is what determines the definition of a word or phrase. In case you haven't noticed, English words can have nuanced and differing definitions in different contexts.

Depends on where. Here at least the State Church still collects taxes directly and is supported by state funds as well as all the wealth they've gathered from having religious monopoly over a few centuries.
state church" is a state religion created by a state for use exclusively by that state
 and what the hell is meant by "collects taxes directly"? If you don't want to pay taxes for your church then get off it. The tax is nothing.

My church is nature and my mind my temple and other people are my fellow travelers. Nature's tax comes when it comes.

In my country the secular legislation doesn't recognize any religion, unless its representatives sign an agreement with the state, in which they declare to respect the laicità of the State and its constitutional principles.

Today the representatives of almost all religious groups have signed an agreement with the State:
RCC, 6 Protestant Churches, Orthodox Churches, Mormons, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism.

Islam is still unrecognized because its representatives refuse to sign an agreement with the Italian state.
This agreement would force them to accept that:
- monogamy is the only kind of matrimony recognized by the state and juridically admissible
- woman and man are juridically equal
- having your face covered in public spaces is illegal
