Is Evolution a religion?

I don't think evolution is a religion. But many so-called 'evolutionists" seem to treat it as if it is the "divine word of God." Because it is treated like this, any inconsistency "destroys" the rest of it, which is rediculous. We do not have complete knowledge of evolution, and we are bound to make discoveries that may make us change what our understanding of evolution is.
My friend you asked for that one.............:p
Evolution is a scientifically observable process; I think I know what you mean to say, but to say that those who you claim treat it as if it was the "divine word of God", will, I think, be more likely to recognize the scientists who observed and used their observations to make deductions to be used as empirical knowledge.

I don't think Jay was too happy with your comment...............

I know I did. I'm using "divine word of God" to mean that some think it is somehow complete and infallible. I have gotten this "vibe" (for lack of a better word) from people who seem to not realize that it is not complete (so infallibility isn't even an issue yet). I don't think it ever could be complete enough to even start argueing infallibility. Evolution is, well, evolving, and to make it out to be infallible is, I think, to give it a sense of completion, which goes against the very idea of evolution.

I agree that these people are more likely to believe that empiricle evidence is the only viable evidence. But they also don't seem to really understand empiricle evidence.
