Is God a Woman?

Breathe

Hostis humani generis
Sounds more like mysgonistic claims certain groups would make in order to make women feel inferior and need to be subordinate to men. First women are responsible for bringing pain and suffering into the world, then adding the idea of it being a woman causing it in the first place? Pah.

As to the OP, im my Hindu side, I lean towards Shakta Hinduism. Therein, my personal conception of the Supreme is approached from a feminine angle. By this I mean I worship the female conceptions of God, Durga in particular, but also Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati, and I see the Supreme Shakti (Primordial Cosmic Energy, Empowerment, Ability, that which is Dynamic) as identical to Brahman (the ground of all time, space, energy, matter, etc).

However, I see the Supreme as being totally beyond gender, form, race, and so on. Why would It need such qualities, after all?

Make sense? :)

I have heard of this view, but I have never really understood it. Is there anyone that believes that God is a woman that can explain the rationale behind this belief?

Don't doubt! Jesus call HIM, FATHER.., And in Dreams, I'm privilege to hear HIS manly voice and seen HIS shadow.

Although the bible refers to God as a masculine spirit entity, would it be plausible for him to possess half of the woman's and half of the man's non-physical characteristics?

Don't know if this has been covered, but I read a book on the subject. When God Was a Woman. I recommend it, although the author has a chip on her shoulder.

If you're doubtful, Please don't ask this kind of offensive question. Just wait to find out until you had the privilege to be in HIS Holy presence.

Well, why not ask this author if she had this privilege to be there and in GOD's Holy presence? Otherwise, all else in the book are myth.

How do you know "God" isn't male and female? I've experienced both male and female divinities.

why would you say that?

Because of the unusual experiences of seeing many spiritually inspiring dreams. Many Thanks and Praises be to GOD for the privilege granted me in dream, and for that brief visit to HIS most exalted kingdom. There's an image posted on my profile. Please have a look and also open my Album for an exciting encounter I had from an earlier dream as shown on that Image.

"God" "appears" (to you) in whatever form/s you will recognize (as God).

Your dreams of God, tell us less about "God" in general,
and far more about the Image/s of God in You.

:clap:clap:clap
Totally agree, Vi.

The image "God" comes to people in, is usually their preconceived image of God or things they would "expect" God to have. Or want.

Same with how many conceive God. For example, the God who opposes homosexuality seems to be the God of someone who ALSO opposes homosexuality. Funny, that.

How do you know peoples' gods are only their thought forms and not actual beings? Is it possible god-beings can exist on a higher level of existence then this and be part of the whole as opposed to being direct facets of it?

This is where I very much part ways with Hindu thought about the devas/gods. They are not just thought forms. They are real beings and in many ways like humans with attachments, etc.

But Veda is all about gods (devas). They are real beings -- more real than the egos. But eventually, devas subsist on the true person. And when the person, pulls in his net of consciousness, devas also go to sleep in person's mind.

Devas are as true as one is.

God has no gender, ALLAH IS UNIQUE, AND CANNOT BE ATTRIBUTED OF ANY HUMAN NATURE.Because if you has gender. HE must has offspring ,And GOD has no offspring.:D

tomspug,
There is absolutely no reason to believe that God is a female. Every time a pronoun is used speaking about God, either He or His, is used.
The Bible tells us that interpretations belong to God, so let us see what the Bible says about God, Gen 40:8, Dan 2:28.
Consider Ex 15:1-3, where each verse speaks the word He when speaking about God, and in the 3rd verse it says that God is a MAN of war.
Through the Bible God is spoken of as being Father, and fathers are men.
Luke 10:21, is interesting, because it says that Jesus' Father, has hidden many things from the wise and prudent one, but had rtevealed things to babes. This seems to be one of the things He has hidden.

It's interesting to think about. If God did not have a gender, why was gender created in the first place? Why is sex necessary to produce offspring? Why is it important?

tomspug,
God creates thing and people the way He wants to. God created the angels as spirits, and they do not procreate.
When God decided to create mankind as flesh and blood, He gave them the ability to PROCREATE, in order to carry out His purpose to fill the earth and subdue it, and to have in subjection the animals, Gen 1:26-28.
It is very interesting that God also put into all living things Prestabilism, which is a law of nature, that all living things would reproduce ONLY after their kinds, making evolution from a lower kind to a higher kind impossible, Gen 1:11,12, 21,24,25.

well that is hardly a reason why all people should see god as a man.
with all due respect, why do you give yourself so much credit to know the unknowable?
that is your interpretation.

God has neither penis nor vagina.
And yet god embodies both.

God is all "things".

All things are of the "stuff" called "God".

I forgot to note about my sex organ when I dream seeing myself in Heaven. It's not a concern, afterall spirit don't need sex or to urinate. Follow the story on the link to better find out.

Please have a look and find out what I sees, feels, and hears. This may help solved your guesses. This is my story of Divine encounter....,
