Is God Responsible for Natural disasters?

I disagree. GOD is the CREATOR of nature. He is not nature. GOD created the environment, but that doesn't mean GOD is the environment. GOD's creation was once perfect (according to the Bible). GOD called it good. JESUS said, "Only GOD is good." However, that was said by CHRIST in human form, present in a human body on a corrupted world.

Satan is presently still in charge of this planet, though the battle is over and the future is assured that he will be cast into the Lake of Fire. GOD is in control, but HE is allowing what happens to happen to the completion of HIS plan.

I am not talking from a Christian perspective.
If in the beginning there was only God then how did he create anything if not from Himself? I believe that God is manifest in everything as everything comes from His being. God is the laws of nature, and thus nature itself.

I don't believe in Satan.

So would it be fair to say that these gods are more like stewards of the universe, rather than its architect?
No. I believe their existence causes the universe to exist, not that they specifically created it or are employed to maintain it... kinda like the Sun causes light to exist. It is not necessarily "intentional". It simply is.

Well, God IS nature...so...
However I do not conceptualise God-as-nature as being contemplative in what, where or when a disaster will occur. Nature has laws; it is not playing games with its inhabitants. I think that it is silly that people think that what happens to them is either a blessing or the wrath of God.

I like this. I do not consider myself religious, but I do believe in a powerful creative force. My view is it is natural, but I can understand how people can also see this as God.

Ah. A very interesting perspective. Thank you for sharing, and for finding a way to explain it. Nice sun analogy.

When it has crappy side-effects.

Also, when it strangles the ability of better methods to be developed, that once integrated, would become the easier and cheaper.
