is Hell really eternal?

i do believe bad people go to hell, but i don't really think God would punish his children for all eternity (even for the most pain they brought to people, or sinned a lot, never went to church, didn't believe in Him or suicide). Maybe "eternal" as known on earth, but eternal could mean a few weeks or months in that part, until he learned his lesson or something. People usually make mistakes because they are on earth, what is your opinion?

I dont believe in hell is a human word invented by other humans to scare other humans into doing what they want anyway you get used to it after a while an wouldnt be hell anylonger might even grow to like it.
Best not to believe everything you read like God would ever send anyone to hell the mere suggestion is a total contradiction to what God is regardless of whats written

Your hell is believing in hell. What you believe will be done unto you.

Remember that "eternal" and "eternity" are not necessarily a reference to time but references to God himself. "Eternal" and "Eternity" are names for God. Replace His name in the scriptures. I now see it as God's punishment and Gods misery not "forever". This leads us to understand why God requires suffering to sin. It is NOT so that we pay our dues or are adequately punished. We suffer to change us. We suffer to help our hearts turn to and trust God. So Eternal Hell is Gods separation from us and suffering to help us open our hearts to his "eternal" love.

God doesn't punish you in hell. You punish yourself by turning away from God. As for it being eternal or not, well, the spiritual realms are timeless so time doesn't apply there. However, we may hope that all, including the damned will one day be saved. "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have the most need of your mercy."

There is not such thing as a "hellfire place of eternal torment". Most all modern religions have debunked that including
the Pope.

“It is a ... hell where they are forever cut off/seperated from God/Lord Jesus Christ."
Archdiocese of Washington Feb. 2015

Pope Francis said that "hell is a cutting off from God with no hope of reconciliation.
Goodle it up for youreself.

i do believe bad people go to hell ...

That's all fine and dandy.

But do you believe that bad people who repent at the last second and accept Jesus get to go to heaven? Does that irk your sense of justice at all?

Maybe "eternal" as known on earth, but eternal could mean a few weeks or months in that part, until he learned his lesson or something. People usually make mistakes because they are on earth, what is your opinion?

Until new evidence surfaces regarding the nature of infinity, I'm prone to understanding "eternal" to mean "eternal." As in "forever."

Depends on what one believes hell is. If you are leaning towards hell being a place of torment, it may be wise to consider what the bible really teaches.

King James Version Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

•If the dead know not any thing, of what are they supposedly being tortured with? What would be the point if one is no longer conscious at death?
