is islam 'really' peaceful?

Then perhaps, you should reword it, the part in red:

No .. you should just stop being pedantic.
The prophets are not as ordinary humans .. they are often called 'sons of God' in the OT .. that doesn't make them literal sons .. it's about how language is used to communicate with others.
Compared to the number of people that have lived on this planet, the number of prophets is very small .. the use of the word 'ordinary' is in this context .. NOT that they are somehow 'superhuman' , other than their piety and closeness to God.

outhouse

Atheistically
The prophets are not as ordinary humans

Faith based statement with no credibility what so ever.

many prophets never even existed in reality, they factually have no historicity outside old wives tales and mythology

they are often called 'sons of God' in the OT ..

Yes because the early Israelites worshipped a family of deities.

.. that doesn't make them literal sons ..

It does in this case.

Its not even up for debate.

Maybe in your reality .. I'm quite happy with mine thankyou .. I can think for myself!

Yes because the early Israelites worshipped a family of deities.
What people worshipped in history is for them and God to know..

It does in this case.

You might like to think so.. ie. that the majority of Jews believed God has children
Same as above .. I prefer God's version to yours :)

It does not make known and accepted mythology into anything else

Not this again .. we've been through this before .. mythology can be true or false.
You implying it to be false does not make it so. You telling us about historical records not tallying with 'Bible literalists' expectations is only a 'smokescreen'

The existence of prophets cannot be proved to be made-up by mankind .. it's not an unreasonable belief and billions of people aren't all dumb!

Sorry we know many of the so called Islamic prophets never existed, you need to understand, many FACTUALLY have no historicity as ever existing and we known many islam plagiarized were in fact literary creations.

FACTUALLY , you are talking complete rubbish..
Pity you are so blinkered and can't see it. You probably don't want to see it. If you keep telling yourself that you know for fact what happened 1000's of years ago, you will believe it!

many prophets never even existed in reality, they factually have no historicity outside old wives tales and mythology
For instances, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, all don't exist, historically and factually. They are like, outhouse have stated, "mythological".

They are purely mythological.

And the one about Solomon being able to control winds and jinns, or being able to communicate birds and ants, is another myth, that Muhammad like to perpetuate.

How can anyone take the Qur'an seriously when Solomon is able to hear, understand and talk to ants, control the weather or mythological creature, known as jinns?

You do know that jinns are myths, muhammad_isa, don't you?

Just as there are no such thing as jinns, being mythological beings, there is also no such being as Satan, which you would call - Iblīs, Shayṭān.

Angels are also mythological beings that don't exist except in religious myths, and that would include the archangel Gabriel or Jibra'il.

There are too many myths in the Qur'an for it to be "believable".
they are often called 'sons of God' in the OT .. that doesn't make them literal sons .. it's about how language is used to communicate with others.

Yes, I know all about the "sons of God", are not meant to be taken literally as in biological sons. I have not written anything about "sons of God". So don't talk to me of being "pedantic".

Compared to the number of people that have lived on this planet, the number of prophets is very small .. the use of the word 'ordinary' is in this context .. NOT that they are somehow 'superhuman' , other than their piety and closeness to God
But there are no evidences that prophets have any abilities to communicate with God or reveal anything that's prophetic.

You are making assumptions that they have these abilities, based only on your belief in some books say-so. What some books say-so, don't make them real or true.

Yes .. I know
Myths can be true or false.

I believe and you disbelieve .. what can I say?
Myth is only true, if it teach some sort of universal wisdom...like if you learn from a story about right and wrong (hence, morality), then it is true...

...BUT they are as fictional as Harry Potter story or the Lord of the Rings. Myths don't present any true, historical or factual story.

Myths are like parables that Jesus tell in the gospels. The story contained meanings that have values, but it doesn't mean the parables he tell were true stories of someone real or some real events.

Some people might think that I am anti-religion because I don't believe that anything story regarding to Adam and Eve to be real historical people. The fact is I do happen to like Genesis story of Adam, but only from the perspectives of:
  1. ...as a literary character, mythological character, not a historical one.
  2. ...the story may not be historical, but I like good storytelling.
  3. ...and from the above literary perspective, storytelling is there to entertain.
  4. ...from anthropological perspective, I am interested in what people back then, believe in the story they read or heard from.
Surely you have watch movies or read some novels, that you have enjoy for their entertainment values. So what I enjoy or find interesting, doesn't mean they have to be real, true or historical.

If I criticise or analyse a story, finding faults with everything, like it not be historically true, then I will never be able to enjoy a good book or good movie.

The things between you and me, is that I can tell that the stories of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and David are not real, but I can still enjoy the stories about them.

My problem is with you - not "you" personally, but as "you" as in "believers" general - is that you take them too seriously, and trying to force other people thinking they are historically true. The problem with this sort of attitude, is that it lead to dishonesty.

The problem is not really the scriptures themselves, but the people who interpret them or those attempting to prove something or another about certain events in the scriptures being real.

I also have disagreement with some Muslims and Christians, who attempt to use specific verses in their scriptures, and trying to convince others they have scientific values. Again, it is not really the scriptures that I have problems with; the problems really lie with those dishonest believers attempting to twist the verses out of context, for their ego and agenda.

If any Muslim or Christian use their scriptures in such fashion, then I will use their own scriptures against them, to show how wrong their interpretations are.

That might well be the popular use of the word..

Lots of things can lead to dishonesty .. Almighty God knows who is truthful and who is not..

People will interpret scriptures as they will, and Almighty God is with the sincere, the truthful.

I think Muslims in general are peaceful , obviously some sects of Islam are not , not that I am going to apportion blame .
I think it's easier to be effectively antagonistic towards Islam imho to be truthful in Islam one must love with the heart .
An insult when a broken rib penetrates the flesh to the outside.
