Thanks. I've seen Christians were asking Israeli's how they could become Israeli citizens. They were told they had to convert to Judaism.

They want a Jewish state, so I can see why.

So by the same logic every country imprisons every other country except when they allow control free travel into their country.

Israel is a liberal democracy like the ones in Europe and the United States.

Do they drift more towards communism or fascism? Would you say they are more conservative or liberal. Do they resemble the Republican Party more than the Democrats?

Within the simplified left/right continuum:

On average, they used to be to the left of the Democrats. Now they are more centre-right (at least I think, I'm no expert).

For the international observer, judgements tend to be made on the Palestinian question though which sort of distorts the situation. Whereas the 'left wing' parties tend to be more pro-peace process, this is not necessarily a left/right issue from the classical perspective which more relates to economic policy, about which I don't know a great deal.

Yes, read the 1st two paragraphs which include statements like, "Other exceptions are made on religious, physical or psychological grounds" and "Despite a general impression that the majority of Israeli citizens are conscripted, only about 50% of potential conscripts actually serve in the military. Others do not serve for a variety of reasons, including religious study, minority community exemptions, refusal to serve, "low motivation", and a criminal record."

So the statement you made, "The fact that everyone is required to join the military" is incorrect.
