Is it only the religious?

Is it only the religious that....
-start wars
-look down on others
-bully others
-molest kids
-kill people
-treat others as inferior

Thats some things I see people blaming "religion" for.

Is it true?...I don't think so because people from all walks of life have committed them as well.

Does it seem like people of religion do them more often?..of course its does. In my opinion its because roughly 85% or more of the population identify as being religious.

What is that like 8.5 people out of 10? So yes with so many numbers they will top the list in many things.

My point is it happens with people from every walk of life, whether there are many of them or few of them, it happens. Its a people problem, not a religious problem.

PS... Mods I didn't know if I should put this in religious debates or not being it really isnt about debating religion. Its about human behavior whether they are religious or not

It is obviously not only the religious but it is in my opinion more serious when a religious person (and here I mean only a validly baptized person) does evil because they are specifically branded by God for separation from the world. When the world acts like the Ouroboros it is that is not surprising or shocking, but when a god degrades themselves to acting that way then it truly is a depravity. All in my opinion of course.

No but it is usually a common justification. Which is why it’s most often criticised when it does become a catalyst for the actions you describe. Religion, all religions, posit themselves as bastions of morality. The truth and righteous way of living. That it is too easily used as a tool for abusing others is a major criticism from Atheists. And one that I share despite being (roughly) religious myself. You want to claim the moral high ground? Prepare to be scrutinised more. That’s just how I see it

I agree people say it "looks worse" but thats only opinion. Its bad no matter who does it because religious or not, we as humans should know better.

As you say, it's human nature. Sometimes people use religion as an excuse, or patriotism, or racism, or anything.
Religion is, though, a common human motivator, plus a widespread morality determiner, so, when both are in play, it's easy to commit any act, however heinous, when it's God's will.

Baptized, saved, spoke to god or whatever, they are still part of this world and what goes on in it.(some will call the bad temptation from the devil).
However the only way to be separated from and escape the bad in this world is death.

There are statistics that say that religious people are overrepresented in the prison population though that may be misleading. But even if there is no difference, it shows clearly that religion doesn't influence morality positively.

Many people temporarily find religion while in prison. It looks good. However its lost as soon as they are released.
People in prison will do anything to survive and get their time cut, if possible.

The problem is when religious institutions shield their members who perpetrate said activities. Or actually incorporate those policies into their written doctrine.

None should be shielded. That is harboring a criminal and anyone that does such should face charges in court... I don't care if they are the Pope, King, Queen, President or whatever.

Yet we do know that people that are religious and people that are not religious do these things.
Maybe we should focus more on human behavior in general and quit pointing blame where it may not lie.

May not.

How about ISIS?

Atheists dont qjote from a book ,of
wisdom about the detestible nature of theists.
We could cite the bible on atheists. Ive had that aimed at me often enough.

Why do some people get angry over silly crap

For example...
-I don't get angry at vegans so why do some get angry at me because I'm not vegan?
-I don't get angry at people who don't own guns so why do some get angry at me for owning guns?
-I don't get angry at people who are religious so why do some get angry at me for not being religious.

I see it as live your life and let others live theirs.

You are right, when people claim their religion makes them better people, they are largely full of it.

Same as when non-religious people think they aren't as "evil" as religious people, they as well are full of it.

Its the person who is evil, regardless.
