Is it possible that Christianity is true, yet the Bible contains errors?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I believe that it is possible that none of the versions of Christianity are true and the Bible contains errors, but I don't think that the reason why no version of Christianity is true is 'because' the Bible contains errors. I think the reason is because the Bible has been misinterpreted by Christians, not all of the Bible, but enough of the Bible to make all the versions of Christianity false.
If the Bible was actually true there would have been 100% consensus among all Abrahamics.

What it tells me is that there's absolutely no Divine guidance or any type of communication going on between Abrahamics and their God.

It's a completely 100% human endeavor which of course explains beautifully as to the division that includes the thousands of denominations and varying scriptures and most notably the three major splits consisting of Judaism , Christianity , and Islam.

Welcome to the forums, bro! I disagree with the doctrine of inerrancy, but I don't want to dwell on that in this post. I'd rather just say hello and let you know that (even though I disagree) your opinion is welcome.
Thank you for the welcome (I’m a sis :). And I’ll let you know in discussing the Bible that I don’t speak from my own knowledge/opinion or any others’ either. I’m a hearer and doer of Jesus’ sayings just as many others in times past did speak from His knowledge it is an all new knowing and understanding the things of God. I don’t agree with men’s doctrines of inerrancy.. I know they are in their own thoughts and ways. I take it that is what you don’t want to dwell on in this post. It is good God’s own thoughts and ways continue to be above theirs. That He’s not likeminded with them in their doctrines.

Why do you think that? I cannot see how that would ever be possible.

What it tells me is that no two people think alike, let alone 100%.

Mind you, I am not saying that I believe that the Bible is all true. I think parts of it are true, but not all of it is literally true.

The Bible is a human endeavor. The question remains if it was inspired by God, some of it or all of it.

Hi vulcanlogician,

I’m new here and this is my first post. The Bible is Holy Scripture even the Word which was in the beginning it was made flesh it is Jesus. He and His Father even the Spirit were in the beginning before there was any religion and before He had the authors of the Bible write it while they were in the world. The Bible continues to have authority and inerrancy it will through the last time. It has no errors. Some men made errors in translation. Depends on the Bible version one may have fewer or more than another. The Bible is able to correct them. A hearer and doer of Jesus’ sayings is able to witness it. As your last questions the Bible even Jesus describes the truth of Christianity in that He said blessed are the masses who have not seen (what His disciples and apostles seen) but have believed on Him.
The Bible does not even support that claim. You are mixing up several ideas here. "Holy Scripture" or even "Scripture" is never defined in the Bible. You are assuming that it is referring to itself, but with all of the Bible's problems I do not see how that can be the case.

So getting back to the OP, yes, Christianity can be true even if there are errors in the Bible.

How did Judas Iscariot die? Please give both accounts if you're familiar.
There is at least two possible causes of death for Judas. First is that he died by hanging and the second is that he died when he fell. The two scriptures that tell about the end of Judas don't say Judas died by hanging, nor that he died because he fell. It is possible that he hanged himself, the rope failed and he fell before he was dead and was killed because of the fall. And it is possible that he was already dead when he fall, because of the hanging. All we can know from the scriptures is that he was dead after the hanging and the fall, which both could have happened. So, no internal error in this case in the Bible.

He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself. The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, "It's not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood." They took counsel, and bought the potter's field with them, to bury strangers in.
Matt. 27:5-7
Now this man obtained a field with the reward for his wickedness, and falling headlong, his body burst open, and all his intestines gushed out.
Acts 1:18

Because discussions on truth are so niche?
No, because terms like fact and truth are too often defined down in such a way as to sap them of any value.

But perhaps I misunderstood you. You wrote: "There are multiple types of truth." [emphasis added - JS] Could you suggest three truth-types that would help answer the question posed by the thread? Thanks.
