Is Jeffrey Dahmer in heaven?

I did a search and didn't see a thread like this yet. I think it would be a good topic of discussion.

Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer who reportedly became religious and claimed himself to be a born-again Christian in prison.

Was Dahmer saved or not?
I didn't even know he'd been put to death. Where have I been?

You probably know the LDS answer already. He's in the Spirit Prison awaiting the resurrection. Depending upon the sincerity of his change iof heart, forgiveness may still be extended to him.

If the myths of forgivness is true in the religious world than I should think he would be in heaven if he truelly repented. I will admit that if he is there, I choose to go the other way.

l guess hell is just reserved for drug dealers and rock stars

Pardon? No, the 'hell' or Outer Darkness I believe in are for Son's of Perdition. It'll be really hard to get there - - you basically have to look Jesus Christ in the face and deny that He exists -- I doubt any drug dealers or rock stars will be there -- besides we need the music of Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix in heaven!!

We look upon all humans as being equal when we know that it's not true. Very few men can toss a baseball ninety miles an hour. Only some women can understand Einstein's math.

Personalities are no different. There are many disturbed people on the earth. Some are born with a mixture of personality traits that conflict, others are missing portions of their personality that help them deal with social situations. Each does the best with what they have and, of course, environment affects them as well.

People think that they would never do the things that Jeffrey Dahmer did because they may have a strong conscience that would not allow it. But let me warn you, there are many who have little or no conscience at all and the only thing preventing them from taking whatever they want is retribution, the law.

If you were born with Jeffrey Dahmer's exact personality and environment you would turn out the same as he. It is up to his soul to decide whether Jeffrey Dahmer's personality is worth bonding with eternally and saving.

And even if it does, it takes a lot longer than a few earth years to learn everything about the universe and find heaven.

I agree with much of this, actually. (Except, I would add that very few men understand Einstein's math as well!)

Where is the other way?

Is it your opinion then that someone can do something so horrendous that even if they truly repented they should not be forgiven for all of eternity?

For me to judge him would be with worldly eyes. He gave up the right to live with us in an open society by his terrible, evil deeds.Whether or not he will pass through the second death is for God to judge. The power of the blood of Christ can change any heart and forgive any sin and only God knows your inner heart. Dahmer would certainly have a heavy burden to lay down at the Cross.

At UU General Assembly 2005, one of the workshop topics was "Is Hitler in Heaven?" :)

I personally don't believe in heaven and hell as places, nor do I believe in continuance of my existence after death. But I agree with the sentiment behind universal salvation completely. It is impossible for a finite being to commit an infinite sin and therefore be deserving of an infinite punishment. Therefore, everyone is saved. I will make some concession to freewill and the possibility of there being people who don't want to be saved. (For example, people who refuse to be in heaven if someone that they don't like is there.) But ultimately, everyone is saved. Indeed, heaven could not truly be heaven if some are excluded.
