Is Pornography really degrading women?

I do not think pornography undermines a marriage, however I do agree that there are some fundamental problems we can run into if we constantly incoporate pornography especially if the image of a loved.one is replaced by the pornographic fantasy.

I am still having trouble seeing how pornography is degrading. Unlike the victorian times I believe pornography empowers women and their sexuality. The issue with degradation I believe, comes from the acts and although the viewer may perceive it to be degrading, the point of pornography is to give the viewer the fantasy. In other words we have to make distinctions between perceived fantasy, and what is realistic.

I, as a viewer understand that the pornographic images are not real, or in the sense that everything I see may not be realistic in my own life. Because pornographic images act upon my own fantasy I have no worries of rejection, or dissatisfying yourself.

Tbh I have never seen gay pornography so I cannot comment on it, I can only speak from my personal experience, I also feel some men are so much into porn they are unable to relate to the feelings of a woman during sex, therefore lacking an emotional connection that only leads to dissatisfaction of both; female and male.

I learned about sex and love making watching porn. Not only stimulating my senses but I also learn what pleases women.

I am talking about anonymity maybe you should look at the standard that women are held in places such as 4/chan, online gaming, or x-box live?

Looking at facebook is a bad example for many reasons, one simply being that one would hardly dare to expose themselves in front of so many "friends".

You haven't seen my friends then lol

If it's degrading to women then wouldn't it be equally degrading to men?

I personally believe that it is degrading to both sexes. My main issue with pornography is children getting the wrong idea about sex when they first view it. Sex is a beautiful thing between two people who love one another (well... in my opinion that's what it should be). Porn and even the media glamorize sex and make it something that it shouldn't be (in my opinion of course).

Here's an example from me personally...

Just a few months ago I walked outside to my car so I could go shopping. There were 5-6 guys in the parking lot right next to my car. As soon as they saw me they started making rude, sick comments. Me being the strong woman I am, told them to grow up and give women a little respect. I remember them swearing at me and saying, "Who's this *****?" They freaked me out so much I called my husband and told him to wait for me outside when I got back.

This example isn't directed toward porn exactly but is directed toward how some people view women. I think the media kind of... strong emphasis on kind of... has a small amount of influence on people today.

I understand that sex has always been "glamorized"... BUT... look at it now compared to the past... we have technology today. It's extremely easy to find porn on a computer. All you need to type up is one keyword and BAM... there it is.

Yeah but isn't it funny how a lot of people can't tell the difference? I know plenty of people who have watched porn who think that it is all the same in every relationship. Watching two random strangers do it should not be a fantasy. Really good, heart felt sex with someone you love should be that fantasy.

What makes you think what goes on in a porno is all real? These chicks in pornos think very differently from others. Women are all completely different when it comes to what pleases them as well. Sure, you can learn new moves in a porn but you aren't learning anything else IMO.

*Edit

I also find it degrading that you think you are learning about women from porno. Tis false my friend.

I never said pornography was real, I clearly stated it was a fantasy. By learning, I am referring to without being to explicit, various sexual positions. I don't see how me saying I learn from that degrades women.

You did say that you are learning from porn, what pleases women. I'm just telling you that is false because all women think extremely different.

Yes woman are different but woman like to have orgasms too! If I have intercourse with several women who were very pleased at my performance which I attribute to watching porn, how is it not me learning and how is it wrong? I am speaking from experience by the way.

BTW judging by your remarks you must be alliance on WoW lol

But I haven't seen anyone explain why presenting women "in a purely sexual context" necessarily degrades them. If I didn't know better I would think you were implying that sex is bad.
I have a question. Would you feel Respectable or Anything or Nothing if your mother was a porn actress? I expect you to Answer honestly.

And would you allow your own daughter to become a porn actress if she wants to?

And would you be comfortable watching either of them in a porn film?

Also, would you be comfortable introducing the women in your family as porn actresses?

If No, why would you enjoy looking at other's daughters or mothers, lets say, and would go mad with fury if you found your own daughter in such a position over the internet someday?

Would you enjoy that expression of sexuality (by your daughter, as in that you wont be disturbed, or move over to not watch it, its her personal thing) and think that 'hmm this isnt the purely sexual context, this is expression!', or would you be degraded if your colleague at work tells you, 'hey i think i saw your daughter on the internet'. Honest answers please.

And if you do think that you will be highly uncomfortable with such a setting, give me name for that feeling, would you feel degraded, would you feel your daughter is being degraded, or would you be Just 'fine'?

Funny but no... I mostly have horde characters. I only have like one Alliance... Of which I never use BTW. lmao and why would my location be Orgrimmar?

Anyways... Not all women care if they recieve anything... I know I am not wrong because well... I am one of those women. I mainly care about my Husband telling me he loves me and him showing me love and passion (do they have pornos with that by chance? I wouldn't know...). :) I am very different from a lot of people though... but I don't care.

In my opinion porns only positive is that it gives men away to release sexual tension.

Other than that it is useless, but allowing men to nonviolently release sexual tension is a big plus.

This is a complicated matter. Sex is just sex. Given the fact that we are intelligent animals we can add different meanings to it, but it doesn't change what it is.
I think of the love between two people as being an additional ingredient for the recipe to give a special flavour, rather than being a required ingredient to make the meal.

This is because you have a rather romantic view of sex, isn't it?
You give a higher meaning to sex than it actually has, and this is good. But it is important to understand that not everyone will do the same as you, and it doesn't make them wrong.

About love, watching porn?
Are you serious? This is rather odd.

That also proves the aspects that men usually mainly 'focus' on regarding 'Learning about women', you said it right Dezzie . Learning about sex isnt learning about women, this is a very offensive statement, and if people compartmentalize 'casual sex' from 'special one', means that they don't respect the casual partner enough to make them a life partner.

If porn taught people stuff about people, there would be no sex in pre-historic times, or even prostitution for that matter, and prostitution is always looked down upon, even if men treat them nicely, they never marry prostitutes or porn actresses, so what is the difference really?

Yes... that is also why I tried to make it known that it was my opinion and view on sex. If everyone viewed sex the same way I do, do you think the World would be different or is that just my opinion too? I'm sure it's just mine... never mind. lol but yes... you are right. Thank you for your comment! :)
