Is the Reason God is hard to describe because God is a human invention?

I have heard some atheists argue that the reason they don't believe in God, is because if you look at the concept, it has all the flaws of a human creation, even attributes and behaviours of humans. What do you make of this?

It does make sense. Whether we look at the Old Pagan gods or even the Monotheistic Omnigod you can easily see the flaws.
The Pagan gods show emotion, love, hate, joy, resentment and so on just like we do, they are Anthropomorphic. Really for the most part on some level they are just Humans with 'Superpowers'(for a lack of a better term).
Now on the Omnigod level, most follower also give it human emotion, Jealous, hatred, love, etc..
So yes It's is quite easy to see how one can see gods/goddess(God/ what every) has nothing more then a Human creation.

The reason it's hard for me to accept an idea like that, that gods are just a human creation, is because I have an actual relationship with my gods. I have had experiences with them. I can't just disregard that, but I can see how they seem kind of humanistic. That's the reason I see them as like humans, but higher, like you said.

Gods gods everywhere filling in our gaps in knowledge from day one. Either the universe is litterally brimming with deities or at least some of them are fictional . If some are fictional then mans tendency to invent deity is demonstrated . If this tendency is accepted as true then the case for the rest becomes a matter of special pleading.

From that it can be logically concluded that all deity concepts are man made.

Can it be concluded they are all man-made though? What if you don't reject the existence of any of them?

The way I would challenge that god is a human invention if I believed or had an experience with god. Is that god is above all human emotions, morals etc. This is a condition of our time on earth. In communicating with us Gods uses our experiences to show us the way. So God seems to have the human attributes but this is only because god needs to communicate with us. When we join god we will all communicate in a new way. Perhaps only love will exist.

Personally I do believe that the Gods exist, in fact I am a Hard Polytheist for the most part. But it's there origin that is what I think is the unknown.
They could be the first born races of the Universe, an Ancient Race that have ascended, Goa'uld.. who knows.
I am always up for this answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egregore
