Is there a Difference between Atheism and Agnosticism?

Friends,

Thank you friend ChrisP has digging up an old thread, as can now be responded to.

Kindly understand that there is a difference between BELIEVERS and being on a path.
Most humans pursue THOUGHTS and believing anything be it theism/atheism/agnosticism/this ism/that ism/etc. are all related with the thinking of beings meaning MIND related.
Following a path/way/religion is all about TRANSCENDING that very mind that thinks and transcending leads to STILLING of that mind so the mind becomes free of thoughts.
Only when the mind is free or still does TRUTH/CONSCIOUSNESS emerges and which is what all religions/paths/ways are trying to lead humans towards. That is what religions are pointing towards which we humans keep missing and missing.

Does the mind really become free of thoughts? Or does one become a free thinker in the truest sense of the word?

Good question. Have mentioned this earlier that only *BUDDHAS* become truly FREE of thoughts, till then we reach it from split seconds to seconds and more depending on the practice.
Yes, it also helps in the changing of the quality of thoughts where one is no more that attached with thoughts and the thoughts are free of the thinker if that is what you mean by *free-thinker*.
Over to you!

I believe that if we are to reach truth, it will be through thinking and reasoning of the world around us and not due to suppresion of thoughts.

Consciousness is our sensation of ourselves, and it's the tool to understand the world, which we represent with our thoughts. How would you achieve any knowledge about the world by not thinking? We would not have been endowed with minds otherwise.
