Is there a moral obligation to tell the truth when speaking to the news media?

Seems the 'media' has taken a stance the we are obligated to answer their questions or else. We're not...
That is a different issue. Lewandowski was not forced to go on Ari Melber, be wanted to do that. And still when he was asked that question he could have refused to answer. We know that Lewandowski is very skilled at not answering questions. But he decided to answer that question and he decided to lie. Nobody forced him to lie.

If Lewandowski had said he was under no obligation answer the media’s questions I would agree. That is not what he said. After being caught in a flagrant lie he said he had no obligation to tell the truth.

But I hope you will agree with me that trying to cover up a crime committed by the sitting President is not a good justification for lying to the press.

Okay I have watched a lot of the hearing before and after. Burke tricked him up with the dates of interviews which I do not think Lewandowski followed. The problem is Burke's follow ups were easy setups to spot thus could only establish he (Lew) didn't tell the truth to the media with plausible deniability. Hence why memory references are made in almost every answer. Burke couldn't establish anything criminal. Lewandowski was prepared by lawyers that is obvious.

I am sure a lot of people lied to the press to try to cover up Watergate. That was not ok.

Government and politicians lie all the time. Status quo.

Some will be quick to point out that there is no law against lying to the press. And that is true. But what about morality, integrity? Do theses things not matter in the era of Trump?

Corey Lewandowski said in his Congressional testimony:
“I have no obligation to be honest with the media,"

Does he? Does anyone?

Nope, considering how much the press lies and twists facts to push a false narrative I would say you are morally obligated to lie to protect yourself from them.
