Is there a power higher than YOU?

Instead of a "higher power"...
I would say there is an "inner power"...
by which I am empowered.

This power however is an integral part of who I am.
Not something seperate.

Well said.
I would say the same as a Theist, God is an integral part of who I am and I meet him in the depths of my heart. However, I am not God.

As a theist, I would say...

I am an integral part of who gOd is.
gOd is (the) ALL that IS.

There is no'thing else.

I AM gOd/gOddess.

My mantra, the truth I embrace as Absolute Truth, is that there is only One Power and Presence in and beyond the universe, God. Exactly what God is is beyond my ken ... nevertheless, that's the reality I live within.

I don't believe telling people they are powerless over addiction is very sound teaching. If they were powerless they wouldn't be at AA in the first place.

From what I've seen AA is a bit like a methadone program, you replace drink with obsessing about drink and meetings about drink and then when you have sucessfully kicked the drink you have to wean yourself off the meetings.

The list is quite short. Perhaps you've seen me do this in other topics.

Bigger, faster, stronger, more intelligent, and greatly experienced.
These attributes are applied to living items.
Inanimate items did not appear to be part of this topic.

To some degree we each share in this hierarchy.
There is life less than you, and there is life greater than you.

I suspect...for this topic....it's the intellectual portion...coupled with the ability to manipulate what you cannot.

Maybe those things make something greater, but what makes something higher?

Friends,

HIGHER/LOWER are relative words and then one will ask higher in what category and then something else.
It is a never ending mental game which is endless.

Did you bring yourself into being?
Were you the cause of your own
existence?
No, you were not.
God created you and keeps you
existing.

The question is: Is there a power higher than you? if so, what?

I`m unsure what you mean by "Higher power".

If you mean something stronger or more capable than me then yes indeed.

If you mean something I value more than myself then yes to that too.

So I guess it doesn`t really matter it`s yes either way.

No, you were not.

I have no trouble calling my parents higher. I have great respect for them. However, it would make no sense calling them higher and neither do they require it.

What do we mean by power?

How about the sun. Without it none of this would be possible. Does that count as a higher power? Or one could say that the physical laws of the universe, or the entire universe itself could be a greater power than ourselves. It all depends on what you mean by higher power. I don't believe that I am ruled by a supreme intelligence, but I certainly have to obey the laws of physics and I am most definitely at the mercy of the Sun and all of the natural phenomena that it causes here on earth.

"Higher Powers" simply require step ladders,
dangling pull chains,
long poles with hooks on them,
or a little bit of growth.

apperently power isn't that high, all you need is a sword to reach it

Can you imagine a power higher than you?
I think that most people's problem is that either they think there is no higher power than them, there is no higher form of life than them, or that there is a higher power but we are his most favoritest things ever!

Personally, I think that anyone who can stand under the night sky (away from the metropolis where you can see stars) and still feel significant has severe brain damage.
'Tis the blink of an eye
'Tis the draw of a breath
From the blossoms of youth
To the paleness of death
From the gilded saloon
To the burial in the shroud
O why should the spirit of mortal be proud?
