I think the best answer is not from others.. but rather to experience it by yourself.. The TRUTH is when U had experienced it.. that is the real KNOWLEDGE...
Dare to try..? Is there life after death ? hmm.. I believe in stories that appears during my sleep .. the dreams and nightmares.. there is life inside there..

Maybe.....and the source of this afterlife maybe future scientists.

In the distant future scientists may somehow be able to access the past and transfer your consciousness at the time of your death to a manmade afterlife realm, like an advanced virtual reality. We may live for eternity thanks to future scientists.

I totally understand your choice of being agnostic but the first book ever written ( The Bible) gives the most clear and simple answer..
Ecclesiastes 9:5 says " For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead , they are conscious of nothing at all..."
Psalm 146:4 " His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day day his thoughts do perish"

But not all.

If a man still breathing can perform a burial....and be considered dead....
