Is there life other places than on earth?

Caladan

Maybe earth is the only place in the galaxy where there is life, maybe there is life in other systems which contain planets, are they intelligent? that's another question all together.
if they are intelligent and more advanced than we are, should we be thrilled to meet them? I'm not sure, were the Aztecs happy to meet the conquistadors?

Yes, that was my point. Have a million frubals!
Sweet. Ok, then.

I think one of the differences, at least for me (alien life = probable, god = improbable) is that we know for sure that it is possible for life to arise in our universe. We do not know that it is possible for a god to exist. We know, generally, what is required for life to arise. Do we know what is required for a God to arise? Do we even truly know what characteristics a universe with a god will have?

It could be possible that "God" is just a scientist in a laboratory and our solar system is in a petri dish.

Seriously, "other life" could be so evolved, that they make "God" look insignificant.

I find it ironic how people become so rigid when faced with a possibility that we where intelligently designed here on earth.

Anything scientific is a "theory", but when it comes to a higher power, it is a "belief".

Well, is there?
“Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.” Calvin

Calvin: "See Any UFOs?"
Hobbes: "Not yet."
Calvin: "Well, keep your eyes open, they're bound to land here sometime."
Hobbes: "What will we do when they come?"
Calvin: "See if we can sell mom and dad into slavery for a star cruiser"

Done here.
Why do you ask, Rev? Were you simply curious as to whether more opeople think aliens probable than those who think them improbable? Were you trying to find hypocrisy in those who think aliens highly probable, but God highly improbable?
Don't be silly. It is demonstrably true that life has arisen on at least one planet, making the possibility of its arising on other planets much more likely than phenomena, like God, for which there is no evidence at all. And after all, we're just speculating here. We wouldn't take people seriously at all if they claimed to know that aliens exist, claimed to have a person relationship with aliens, or promised that aliens will come to take away their friends to live with them in bliss. Christianity has nothing in common with SETI, and a great deal in common with Heaven's Gate.

I recently made my first blog post on this very topic. I went through all the variables in the Drake equation to arrive at an estimate of the number of civilizations in our galaxy and the spacing between them. Check out my blog post and let me know if you agree or disagree with any of my estimates and conclusions. Alien Contact Forthcoming?
