Is this the simplest and strongest argument of all for not believing in religions?

If the God of the bible or the Quran was all powerful then he would have no need whatsoever for prophets. He would just contact us directly and save all the misunderstanding we have today about religion. This makes even more sense now as all he needs is our email address. :)
But if religion is man made then self proclaimed prophets would be inevitable. You would expect nothing else.
So what do we find? Lots and lots of prophets throughout history claiming to be from [their] God.
I came to this forum because I am fascinated my mans ability to believe in religion.

Or am I missing something here?

You are missing something crucial.

If the Christian God contacted you directly, then the next step is the He puts you to an eternal hell, because you did't have faith in Him, and now you can no longer put faith in Him as you already see Him. This is so because a covenant signed off by Him says that you need faith to be saved.

Moreover, it is about a process of how humans reach a truth. You don't keep direct contact with president Obama to know his existence, you rely on our media (i.e. humans such as reporters and writers). You rely on these human "prophets" to reach the truth that Obama does exist.

Assuming there was a god, does anything make you think that god would be interested in revealing itself to humans?

Let alone all...common assumption is all would be equally entitled and/or deserving of revelation.

In all fairness....I haven't read all of this thread.....
But I don't have a religion because.....

The dogmatic approach is false.
Nodding your head just because you think you should?......

Believing in a gesture of hand because you saw someone else do it?.....

Thinking you can draw the Spirit to you....by you own merit?......

I won't say no outright.
Many people will try very hard to bring themselves to God in a variety of ways.
I won't say no to their methods.....for their sake.

But as for me.....
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

We need nothing more....or anything else.

You are one of my favorite Christians on here bro.

Does do unto others include public, playful spankings if one be "naughty"?

.

So God gives me this brain. And my brain tells me not to believe in something unless it is logical, makes sense and is backed up by good scientific evidence. In other words I don’t have faith because my brain tells me not to believe in supernatural nonsense.

God sure does have a sense of humor when he makes someone like me. I am doomed from the word go!

I wonder how many people actually believe in that.

Because frankly, no one should.

No because all religions do not have prophets.

God doesn't come to man, man comes to God. It's the prophet's faults for their mystical connections.

It is about God talking to us, and it is the same as always in that there are descriptions such as Jonah, who refused to listen at first, and was thrown off the boat he was trying to escape in, but many more who never do listen even when confronted with dire straits.

So then if we were to receive his Email what difference would that make, as if you will not find a reason to write that off just as the other ways he has used.

Who cares if you believe in a religion or god, it makes no difference to the Cosmos, you don't need to believe in H2O to have water, believing in god or not makes no difference to what already is, unless of course you need to, but then you should work out why you need to.

I believe we interact in spirit after we surrender the flesh.

That means....direct contact...in mind and heart.

Therefore, the peace of heaven is guarded.
You can't let just anyone in the Door.

Here in this place I write and you read.
You speak I listen.

Dead men do no such thing.
If we have words at all....the angels can see what you think and feel.
It will be up to them if your mind and heart can follow.

If not....they will leave you where you fell.

I don't see this as dogma.
I simply can find no manner to circumvent the pending event.

As the Carpenter did say the Pharisees.....
You wash enough the outside of the cup.....but not the inside.

I think this is where I part with most Christians.
and other religions as well.

It's not about recital....I have no beads for your hands.....no rug for your knees.
It's not about congregation....I have none....and no one follows me.

It's not about good deeds.....God can shame your best effort on your best day...
with the least of His own.

So it's really about....me.
What goes on in my mind and heart.

I hope the angels can tolerate a talking ape....where their brethren once stood.

What then do your think of my previous post?

Your previous post sounded nice, but its just too much emotional stuff attached to it, that I can do without, get to the point and not beat around the bush.:)

You mean that....burning bush?

Speaking of prophets......I don't look at Moses like most people do.

I say, he went up on that mountain to meet his Maker.
He went tresspassing on the mountain to meet His God.
He was eighty years old.

He went there to die.

Not a lot of emotion involved.....just a different perspective.

Moses had to change his mind.
He didn't really meet his Expectation.
He found Something Greater.
