I'd actually argue that Jacksonian Democrats haven't changed much in the past 180 years. They still dumb down their speech for minorities and push policies that destroy the families of those that they deem beneath them.

He is a source of division but not the cause of it. Division in the USA has been building for decades. Trump is a symptom not the disease just like Clinton and her babble was a cause as well. I doubt anyone at this time can fix the division in the USA on their own or at a party level.

The division is caused by RW misinformation. Millions of people getting radical RW misinformation and conspiracy theories and passing it along to friends and family. Social media, TV, radio, etc.

Since around 2010 is when the RW media machine started really pouring on the propaganda. Thanks to technology and social media advancements.
