Just curious.

1. Is your faith the same as your parents?

* If no, what is your faith and what were your parents?

* If yes, how long has it been your family's religion?

My mom was raised a Christian and I was brought up as one, too. (A great deal of our social life was devoted to serving in the church, actually.) We both became restless at about the same time, though, and she wound up on more of a Buddhist path and I on a Pagan one.

My parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and dogs ;) were all born and raised LDS. Edit: There is one convert who married into the family and another who is not LDS who also married into the family.

There is an unbroken link that goes back 5 generations on my fathers side.

No. I'm Orthodox, my mother was Lutheran and my father not really anything. I also have a number of Roman Catholics in the family. I'd guess the last time anyone in my direct bloodline was actually Orthodox (as in, they fell under a Patriarchate of the Orthodox Church, though the Church hadn't yet split) would be when Sts. Cyril and Methodius evangelised the Slavs of central Europe (and for a reasonably short period thereafter).

My faith is different than my parents.

Mom was raised Catholic, my father Lutheran they left and never looked back. When I was 11 I went on my own path. I was raised sort of New Age-ish which my father introduced to my mother when they got married. I never had any real religion teaching. Both are basically agnostics/atheists now-- and so am I (agnostic), but I have a totally different POV on spirituality than they do.

My parents are both lapsed Catholics. Since they were lapsed, I didn't think my mom would really care that I was Pagan... I was slightly wrong. My dad doesn't know, he doesn't need to know.

my dad's family is a mix of Lutheran and Catholic. my father was very religious, and studied a veriety of traditions- Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Swedenborgian, etc.

my mother's family is Catholic. my mother left the church shortly after i was born, and has been Lutheran since.

i was raised Lutheran and kind of drifted away from the church emotionally in my mid teens. i have always loved the hymns though, and i think it was the hymns we sang that kept my hope in the existence of God alive for a long time.

Both of my parents were LDS and the only ones in their families. My mom still is, but my dad is not anymore. My dad's wife is Catholic and he is thinking of converting to Catholosism. Only me and one brother and one sister and our own families are LDS.

Yes. My family members have been Hindus since our ancestors came to Trinidad from India. I know for sure that my great-grandmother, who BTW is still alive, her parents came from India. East Indian immigrants first came to Trinidad in 1845 to work on the sugar cane plantations in the days of colonialism. The first boat with immigrants was called the Fatel Razack.

My mother is a Roman Catholic. My dad is an eclectic mix of Methodist/Native American spirituality. I was raised in the Roman Catholic church.

My parents are very liberal Christians. I am a heathen. They didn't really understand what that meant when I told them, but whatever I guess.

Well one of my parents is Roman Catholic which would be my mother,my dad is a non-practising Baptist.
My mother's side , my aunt and grandmother are also Catholic not sure how long its been in our family I guess my grandmother's mom was Catholic but I'm unsure.
We have a whole bunch of Christian denominations on my dad's side of the family my aunts and cousins(I have ALOT of cousins) are practicing Baptists and my great-grand mother and great-aunt are Jehohavah's Witnesses.
So I follow the faith my mother gave me. I kind of wonder what religion I would have followed if my mom didn't baptise me.

Not really.

My mother is an agnostic but goes to Church of England services for the rituals and mythology.

My father is a scientist and has a bit of trouble with religion. His family were VERY religious and his mind is still weakened by his narrow religious upbringing. He is doing his best to fight the virus though. :) I guess he is a Christian who knows deep down that it can't be true.

I love Judaism, but I am currently unable to convert. My dad is a secular humanist and my mom follows a traditional Native American path.

My father was raised Seventh Day Adventist, but left the church when they treated my brothers poorly. My mom was raised non-denominational. They are both now basically non-denominational. They're Christians, but they don't go to church or anything. I was raised so loosely on religion that I can barely say I have any sort of religious foundation. I'm a Luciferian which is obviously quite different from what they believe. I've told my mother, but I don't think she takes me seriously and mostly she just pretends she doesn't know anything about it. I've never told my father because it would just hurt his feelings too much and it isn't worth it. He does know that I don't necessarily believe what he believes though.

No.

My mom was a Christian Scientist while I was growing up.

My dad was a non-observant Lutheran.

Well, this polls seems to prove at least among RF members that we aren't indoctrinated into a religion and continue to follow it just because we are told to...lol.

Following Christ
Not only is my faith the same as my parents, but including my sister, we all go to the same Disciples of Christ church. My brother, his wife, & kids are as well where they live, and they will be moving to metro Hot'lanta GA when their house sells. :D

My parents set a Godly example:cross: for us to follow, and encouraged us to find our own path. My sister only strayed a little during college, but my brother & I took a bit longer to return to the faith.

As for how long it's been the family religion, our church was founded in 1921, and my dad's mother joined in 1923. She served as pianist, organist, and choir director over the years, and my parents have been involved in leadership roles not only in the congregation but in the national church organization. My wife & I and my brother & his wife in their church serve as youth advisors, and my sister was just installed as one of our church's youngest elders!

You could say we are quite involved.
