If we are to assume that by "eternal life" ... we mean life after death...
what would that have to do with religion?

Either there IS 'life after death' or there is not.
The only 'thing' leading to "eternal life" would thus be death itself.

Unless, by "eternal life" we mean something else....

I choose the first option. Allah says:

And whoever seeks religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers
(3:85)

There may be exception to this but this is the general rule and Allah knows best.

I agree with number 2. In fact I'd go so far as to say that whether or not a religion leads to whatever a person hopes to find, spiritually speaking, is dependent more upon the individual than on the religion.

My goal isn't eternal life. In fact, I do not want eternal life.

There are many paths that lead to God.

I don't consider my religion a religion and I have no idea where it's leading, but I'm trying to follow it anyway.

Now that's faith.

"Eternal life" isn't really a relevant concept in some religions. I think that's why they asked which statement is closer to what you believe.

So by "eternal life" THIS POLL most likely means,
"whatever YOU consider to be the GRAND prize of/for all time" :p

No? :cover:

From my perspective neither really says it all for me, but I do believe that I am onto something very interesting, so I do have to recognize that. My worldview is not a religion and I would actively discourage such a term being applied to me. Religion is just not what I am about. That being said, there are other paths to lead you to where I am. The thing is, eternal life is not the result of any religion and none have the right to claim it is.

2 comes closer, but I voted "Other." Eternal life (or close enough) is the nature of the divine consciousness of which we are part. Doesn't matter what you believe or don't.

Exactly. It is more than a bit meaningless to say that a religion "gives" something you already have.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
perhaps, if you consider "make-it-up-as-you-go-along-ism" to be a religion, it could be the "one true faith (tm?)", seeing as that's pretty much what anyone is doing at any one time.
