I consider Catholic Christianity to be the one true faith. To say that other religions lead to eternal life is not, in my opinion, doctrinally correct. Insofar as other religions are consonant with the Truth which is definitively revealed in Christ and entrusted to the mission of the Church, these other faiths may indeed assist people towards eternal life- but not per se, only through Christ.
Thank you for putting it better than anything I was thinking of ;)

What if you're a Masochist?

Should you still "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?"
That is a pretty simplistic understanding of the command...

I don't know if it's the one true way(though I doubt anyway is the one true way). But I do know that it's the way that works for me.

I voted for option 4: Neither.

I don't believe that my religion is the one true faith and I don't believe that it will lead to eternal life. I don't believe that all religions and faiths lead to an eternal life, and I'm not entirely sure I believe eternal life is an option. I certainly don't believe that all religions and faiths take people to the same end, different paths go in different directions for different people and I am not one to kill the humanity in religion.

Based on what Mormons have told me of their theology, I'm very surprised that the percentage voting for (1) is so high.

I was thinking that! I would have thought most would vote both personally, as I was taught that many people will gain eternal life, but there is differing degrees of it. I suppose most of the mormons that voted for one were thinking of the ultimate eternal life?? perhaps??

And a pretty simplistic understanding of masochism.

The masochistic community probably embodies the golden rule better than most communities of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. Quite simply, because of the nature of masochism, the masochistic community very strongly self regulates in order to protect itself. Trust and consent are vital, so in the case of masochists enacting the golden rule would look like this: If I don't give my consent to this, it doesn't happen. I won't do anything to someone else without their consent.

I think there is a subtle but profound difference between claiming one's religion as the one true faith and believing one's religion is the one true faith.

The former declares their religion for all others.
The latter suggests their religion would be good for all others.

Claiming another will not have a happy afterlife without their religion is very different than saying "We believe you will not have a happy afterlife without our religion". The former shows no respect for another's spiritual sensibilities and in fact negates them. It is an oppressive and tyrannical attitude.

Let me guess, the former is Islam and the latter is Christianity? That would fit your profile.
