Israel an APARTHEID STATE? I dont think so AOC.

Notably, it is not an apartheid state because Palestinian Arabs are not second class citizens the way Black South Africans were; they are, in fact, not citizens of Israel at all, but treated as foreign citizens with the same rights in Israel proper as an illegal immigrant in the contemporary US. Since the majority of West Bank territory and all of its major roads are under political and military control of the IDF, the Arab citizens of West Bank are - effectively and legally - foreign citizens in their own home country.
Which by definition is a form of Apartheid

Then maybe you should have looked it up before assuming without even checking that AOC was the only person who has ever said it, ever. Why did you even do that?

Again, your chosen language here is very intriguing. Did AOC blurt out this statement while midway through a meal, spewing half-eaten food at a nearby table of journalists, or do you simply refer to anything a person you politically disagree with says as an "outburst" because you're incapable of imagining people you disagree with behaving in a normal way because that detracts from your obvious mischaracterization of them?

Why would it matter if it was "relatively new"? Why relevance does that have to the truth of the statement?

Think, grasshopper, think! Do not allow your blind, irrational hatred/fear of AOC cloud your judgement. If you must own her, do it with facts, reason and logic. Because, right now, all I'm getting from this whole thread is that (1) you don't like AOC, (2) you are willing to lie - or, at the very least, not bother to do very, very basic reaearch, in order to make AOC seem insane, (3) you don't actually have an argument about whether or not Israel is an apartheid state, you just REALLY know that you don't want to agree with AOC on this particular subject.

Have a drink, take a deep breath, do a bit of light reading, then maybe come back to discuss this complex, political subject with something other than "socialist-adjacent lady bad".

There is a very troubling fixation a lot of American conservatives seem to have with that woman. She's what, a single representative in the Lower House of Congress? Out of several hundred people? And not even particularly influential, only popular on Twitter and within a very narrow band of leftist supporters?

But it's a form that's different from the historical apartheid regime of South Africa, so clearly they must be nothing alike, despite the fact that several prominent South African anti-apartheid activists have come out saying that no, it's just like apartheid, and the only people holding against that have been Western foreign policy wonks and the Israeli press.

Apartheid is an oppressive and discriminatory form of governing, not a mirror image of South Africa

It's both, which is why people argueing in bad faith have such an easy time waylaying the issue by quibbling over definitions.

Israel is trying to put an end to the hundreds of Qassams that are being deployed on its citizens. The aim is to collapse the tunnel systems being used to move rockets and troops.

The best thing now is to call for an immediate cease fire and get to the table so no one else has to die.
I favor such negotiations.
But I've the lowest of the low expectations.

The oldest link you have is from 2018. So this notion is fairly recent.

Just how "old" does it have to be for you to consider it it "not new"?
10 years?
20 years?

how about 60 years?

In 1961, the South African prime minister and architect of South Africa's apartheid policies, Hendrik Verwoerd, dismissed an Israeli vote against South African apartheid at the United Nations, saying, "Israel is not consistent in its new anti-apartheid attitude ... they took Israel away from the Arabs after the Arabs lived there for a thousand years. In that, I agree with them. Israel, like South Africa, is an apartheid state."[33] His successor John Vorster also maintained the same view.[34]Since then, a number of sources have used the apartheid analogy. In the early 1970s, Arabic language magazines of the PLO and PFLP compared the Israeli proposals for Palestinian autonomy to the Bantustan strategy of South Africa.[33] In 1979, the Palestinian sociologist Elia Zureik argued that while not de jure an apartheid state, Israeli society was characterized by a latent form of apartheid.[35] The concept emerged with some frequency in both academic and activist writings in the 1980–90s,[36] when Uri Davis, Meron Benvenisti, Richard Locke and Anthony Stewart employed the term 'apartheid' to describe Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

Nobody else thinks its an Israeli apartheid going on here and it seems she's the only one who thinks so.
I can not wait for you to explain how Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was able to start this "Isreal Aparthied" movement 28 years before she was even an itch in her daddys shorts, let alone a twinkle in her mommas eye.

So then, why is AOC going bonkers and spouting this as if it's the first time?

So, not even an attempt to support your claim?

Not that anyone is the least bit surprised.
What do you want me to say? So it wasn't the first time then. I can live with that.

Israel an apartheid state? Lol.

That's another matter.

Israel isn't perfect, obviously, but it is not an apartheid state.

This is a recent thing here, calling Israel that, especially given the severe treatment of Jews historically.

Apartheid is simply not in Israel's vocabulary as far as I'm concerned, and AOC is the most batty and partisan nutjob Congress person I've ever seen.

What do you call it when Israel illegally changes the borders of the 1947 UN agreement, annexing Palestinian land and forcing them on to what can only be called reservations, separated by high walls?

I'm still waiting for an actual argument.

Not that I'm not hugely entertained by your obviously irrational hatred/fear of AOC. Can't wait for you to finally put that to one side and totally destroy her claim with all those facts and arguments you have.

Let's do it!

The nutcase is at it again....

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls Israel an ‘apartheid state’

It's a conflict going on for years and years ...

Nobody else thinks its an Israeli apartheid going on here and it seems she's the only one who thinks so.

Agree or disagree?
Are you sure it's no one else.
How is this any different than Christians defending the slavery presented in the Bible?
