Question! Obama was in the Senate, right? In all of this time, isn't there a process to verify identification? He has held political office for awhile now. My question is, if there was fraudulent activity, wouldn't someone have found it by now? It seems unlikely to me that anything is amiss. I could be wrong, but for now, that is where I stand.

The bigger picture on the birther question, imho, is that if the certificate was faked then Obama knew he was not eligible to become president. Obama was a senator just under 4 years. He, along with other newbies, were considered junior senators. Beyond that, I don't know what type of confirmation (if any) takes place for those running for office. My guess is that if you ran for office, people just assumed you met the criteria.

As far as a cover up goes (if there is/was one), we are talking about the US government. They can pretty much do what they want.

Point of reference: Obama was a Senator for 743 days which includes only 304 Senatorial work days.

However, Obama's time is done so I am not sure why Joe Arpaio is trying to make a move now.

1. He just lost an election. His tenure in office (24 years long) ended on the 1st of January.

2. He cannot afford his own legal defense for a contempt charge levied against him last May, and has taken to launching a public fundraising campaign to pay for his defense.

3. This reminds people that he still has the back of his constituency, namely those that didn't want a certain kind of US president.

3. If it is ever proven that Obama was not born a US citizen, there's really not much of anything that can be done after the fact. Yes, he would go down as the biggest liar and fraud committed against the US, but that is about it. I can't believe anybody thinks Obama is an American citizen. He is the most obvious Muslim fundamentalist to ever grace the public spot light of America. While men like him are pretending that Osama is dead, we need people like Trump to undo everything he has done and go finish the fight against foreign influences.
