I had swore forum off but as people say, I say too, it's addicting.

It's the laughter I'm sure. I do it because I like to be amazed and sometimes it's funnier than anything.

Why are YOU addicted?

I like the combination of religious and non-religious, serious and silly.
There are plenty of people here who disagree with me about all sorts of things, and so many different perspectives on issues, both culturally and religiously.

It makes me see just how tough it's going to be to get the whole world to understand that my point of view is the right one.

To crush my enemies, to see them humbled before me, & to hear the lamentation of their allies!

And I like to spend time with friends.

I generally just like looking more than posting. I get great ideas on things to post on my Tumblr considering the amount of failed reasoning here.
Plus there is the fact there are nice folks on this forum, not many but enough to keep me coming back :)

It's a virtual community.
We get to learn so much, about so much.
The really nutty newbies and threads are great fun.
The serious debates are massively informative.
This beats hanging around on street corners.

Newbies could be treated better.
Yeah, some have problems, but problems can be overcome as they become accustomed to the culture.
I see some veteran members actually telling salvageable ones to leave. Without naming names, some
people just be too full of themselves, & don't respect the intended spirit of diversity.

This has been my big issues though. Debates are really just ways for each person to keep face which I have no interest in.
I can end a debate quickly if I am wrong and then it can go on to another debate. Being wrong in a debate seems to never occur to people. The people who debate the most tend to have the least to say.

This is about my 8th or 9th forum and it always ends tragically when people debate.
But it is fun of course for a while. I am obviously just worn out by it since I have been doing it for years

There is some truth to this, but I think the important thing is to work out what you want to get from a debate. Other people may behave like <language filter would blush at this word>, but if you look beyond the loudest, and don't bother with changing people's minds, but just learning, there is often value in debate threads.

It can certainly be hard trawling through the haystack to find the needle sometimes, though, I'll certainly grant that.

Pace yourself. I use the Jokes area as a way to come here and not debate, and just use the more serious threads for when I'm in a more serious/introspective mood.
Some take leaves of absence from time to time.
There's no right way, but once you're here, YOU CAN NEVER LEAVE!!!
Umm...I mean...Once you're here, you're part of the RF family.

I've been there too. I wanted to leave several times but I kept coming back. The main reason is the friends and the nice people I met here, including you :D

Bashing-haters are around and I'm trying to not let their sore hatred affect me, just for the sake of the nice people. What's the point of coming out of no where running their mouths with provocation? The only reason I can think of is they being sore losers full of hatred.

I've left for semi-extended periods before. The last one was at least 6 months, I think. I don't actually remember.

I enjoy the community here and I've grown attached to the people. If all the people Im used to left, I would probably leave too. Well duh, the people make the community

Anyway, it's a fun way to pass the time, since I like reading. And, while I socialize plenty in person, it's tiring. This gives me a way to interact with people at a comfortable distance when I want it. Im also bad at expressing ideas verbally, on the spot. I mix words up and stuff and can't always speak clearly. I like having time to piece my thoughts together and express them accurately. So RF makes for better conversation on my part :D

Firstly I came here for theological knowledge and to find questions to my queries. But other subjects also dragged me in. I love the jokes and teasing here. In addition people here on RF are caring and most are not as biased as in other religious forums. I am not very religious but theology have always been my passion. So this place is heaven :). Even the moderators here are good and polite. They actually take your permission to shift your thread from inappropriate places! Knowledge+friends, what else do I need?

I stick around mainly because there are some real gems of wisdom that crop up now and then. I feel that I've learned a hell of a lot since I first joined and I hope this continues.

Occasionally It can feel like searching for diamonds in manure and more than once I've been tempted to just walk away. Still, every time I get to that point I find something that changes my mind.
