This OP is about self Imposed restrictions, as there are many concepts we have to rise above, if indeed we want to see a world of peace, where as a majority, we agree to work for the good of all.

If you have a faith, it is bigger than you.

If you have any predudices, it is bigger than you.

If you have a political stance, it is bigger than you.

If you have no God, it is bigger than you.

If you have science, it is bigger than you.

If you are into Nationalism, it is bigger than you.

To be united, to have peace, we must become bigger than our self imposed restrictions.

What else restricts us to become a caring united humanity?

How do we become more than our own self?

To me it is oneness in heart, that allows possible change from within, which in turn motivates the pursuit of a global vision.

What about you?

Regards Tony

Within you and without you the beatles

We were talking
About the space between us all
And the people
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth
Then it's far too late when they pass away
We were talking
About the love we all could share
When we find it
To try our best to hold it there, with our love, with our love
We could save the world, if they only knew
Try to realize it's all within yourself, no-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you
We were talking
About the love that's gone so cold
And the people
Who gain the…

love is greatest of all. the love of two is greater than an individual alone.

what love hath joined together let no individual divide asunder.

Yes indeed, Love allows us to transcend our own self interests.

A great song indeed. We even have to transcend the meanings of words, unless a word might hinder us to embrace a wider Love and that Love does not become a veil.

I see my Faith is far far bigger than what I see it may be, as I see are all faiths and science as well.

I see it is reletive to our view of life and no matter how big I see life is, well, it is always bigger than that! :D

If I travel abroad, it is to take part in the cultures there. If we want to unite the World, we must first respect the people and their traditions. You are right, it is bigger than me.

I see culture is very important and all the good needs to be preserved in our diversity.

I also see there are aspects of all cultures that can now be shown as not conducive to enable us to embrace all others as a global citizen, that is where it becomes bigger than self interests.

Western culture has made a bad practice of imposing itself on other cultures, which seems to create only resentment. I don't know whether this is the natural order of things, but I am willing to wait on other cultures to evolve on their own.

It may be we can share the good found in all cultures and then let the less productive fade away.

Like we must educate women, those that suppress women have an aspect of culture favouring a dominate male attitude.

Humanity as a whole can not let that continue. How it is changed is through education and decisions bigger than our own selves.

I am all for the liberation of oppressed women; however, it is not my place to force my ideas of liberation on women. I see plenty women in my very liberal town who choose to wear the hijab.

In a world bigger than ourselves, I see the majority will set global standards, that is what I am thinking, but it is bigger than my thoughts as to how it will happen.

That, and often someone trying to force their beliefs upon another, will most likely result in push-back, sometimes violent push-back.

If someone want's to change something they believe is "wrong", they need to go about it very carefully.

Kinda like a Global Democracy?

I think this is another of Tony's threads where he's trying to push the belief that his Baha'i religion is "foretold" to be the ruling religion to govern the whole world.

Since you asked, for myself I see the world differently than most. As I interact with people I don't have all the divisions that most others have. I don't divide or judge people by their skin color, nationality, religious beliefs, ethnic group, whatever... To me all the people of the world are just like everyone else, all souls put here to find their way until they can learn their lessons to spiritually evolve and enter the spiritual realm/universe/Heaven in however many life cycles it takes. Everyone is doing the best they can at whatever level they have attained. So I will always be nice and/or helpful to them all unless it puts me in danger. I will not hate anyone or any group of people, it does no good for my soul. So I feel there is no need for an overseer, a "global vision" if everyone would just drop all their petty "divisions" that makes them hate others.

Dunno. The OP's phrasing reminds me of the phrase Allahu akbar which is often translated as "Allah is the Greatest" but actually means "Allah is greater".

Suppose person A comes up with a phenomenon X (a culture, a religion, a scientific achievement, whatever) that person B doesn't have, B can always reply that "Allah is greater" [than phenomenon X] which in my eyes could be a badly veiled attempt of B to say "I am greater", but of course B is "humble", so B won't attribute it to himself but to "Allah". ;)

A variation of the game of "My bigger brother is bigger than your bigger brother", IMHO.
