Its Good news .

John1.12

Free gift
The' Gospel ' literally means 'good news ' .This is described in a nut shell in 1 cor .15 .1-4

1¶Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3¶For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Often Christianity is argued against for various reasons ,but negatively .the central message is actually 'good news ' literally.
Good news for the whole world. The message of how Jesus has died for our sins . Its 'good news '. Why do some treat it as bad news . Its a free gift also . You cannot earn it . Its the offer of eternal life.
So it's:
- eternal life ,
- forgiveness of sins ,completely ,past present and future .
- Peace with God
- Justification
- redemption
- Blessed with all spiritual blessings
- Its all a free gift
- cannot be earned
- recieved through faith
- No rituals, pilgrimage, special clothes ,bno joining an organisation , club , ' church ' no practices, no asceticism , to recieve all of the above .
Even if you argue that its not true, I don't believe its sensible to argue that the message ( Gospel ) is negative, or bad news ,if it is indeed true . Which of course I believe it is .
Thoughts?

Hmmm... If I don't believe in the concept of sin, what is Jesus saving me from?

Reminds me of a person offering a potion to cure me of a sickness I wouldn't even know I had if it weren't for the person offering me the potion telling me that I had this sickness in the first place...

Seems kind of like "burdensome news" since "the wages of sin is death" meaning if I don't accept the cure for the thing that I don't know whether or not it exists it will totally end badly for me (aka hell) - but I can never know if this bad thing will happen until after I die, which means I can't actually know if that terrible fate exists any more than I can know if sin exists.

Seems like incorporating all of this stuff into one's life would just complicate things more... One would be shackling themselves unnecessarily with things that they don't really need to, it seems to me.

This sounds applicable for those who believe it.

Why should this be applicable to those who don't?

From their point of view and well-being.

I think it’s the best news, best offer, and best gift ever. Nothing compares to freedom and eternal life in Christ!

You wrote quite a few things in your OP, and even though I can see some of them as originating in the Bible, imo, some are not there.

Also, another response asks you “what is Jesus saving me from?”

You really need to answer this. If you can, it may go a long way in getting your message across.

Another thought.

Most people cannot get to the concept of “good news” because of the incredibly bad things written of in the Bible. I think most people, maybe even you, see many verses in the Bible, as being, ummm, somewhat unpleasant?

Do you?

How would you consider Psalm 137:9 as good news?

“Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.”

@SigurdReginson that is a great question you asked.

He saves people to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sin has been paid for and taken care of; but Christ Jesus is needed to be see as made right with God; that we may have peace with God knowing our sin has been taken care of and we go and look towards Him. (We lay down our old life style of living (being greedy, hateful/ living new lives by and through the spirit by and through faith); though things may arise in our lives were we continue to make mistakes which keeps us humble and seeking after the spiritual things of God, and his promises. I believe.

I hope this make sense because it has been brought up by my teacher many times. If sin is paid for why are people going around pointing fingers at people saying they are sinning ? Did not Jesus Christ already pay for the price of sin? The more you continue to talk about sin the more bring it back alive in your life; if you are a Christian we are to become dead to sin -> looking more unto heavenly things rather our mistake though we do make mistakes in which may not be loving towards God or towards others from time to time like I mentioned. I believe.

This what I believe: Jesus Christ paid for and saved the (population of the world) sins of the whole world. ~ Because of God's love which was shown and expressed by and through the Lord Jesus Christ by the spirit that was residing in Christ, for God was with us through the Lord Jesus Christ by the spirit of God I believe.

I believe that Jesus Christ though he was a man of flesh like me and you was so much more than people make him out to be; He was the Word of God made Son of God; and was the one whom pretty much who (The Father) created everything through the (Word) haha. That is why His words are still existing today; He said that himself his words will never disappear, though this earth (in our death) and heaven (sky above)- will pass away. I believe.

But that doesn't mean everyone is saved to the kingdom of heaven. I believe.

The good news? The good news is that God, who loves you, also has plans to torture you for all of eternity. Why? Because you were born into a world where you need to be saved from deserved torture. BUT, because he does love you, he has allowed an escape clause from his eternal damnation. The clause is, he wants you to believe he came down in human form, to have himself murdered 2,000 years ago. Then he went back to heaven where he came from. He did this on your behalf so that he doesn't have to punish you for what you do wrong. The good news is, a human sacrifice event, a vicarious redemption, has to be believed or you will be tortured for all of eternity. I'd call this very sad news, not good news at all.

My thoughts (and a comparison to what I already have without the Gospel):

- eternal life ,
I have am eternal being, but potato, potahto.
- forgiveness of sins ,completely ,past present and future .
I have no concept of sin. I have a karmic account which satisfied through dharma.
- Peace with God
Aham Brahmasi (I am Brahman), so I have peace as God.
- Justification
No idea what this means. Justification for ??
- redemption
Redundant to "forgiveness of sin" above. Again, my redemption comes though dharma.
- Blessed with all spiritual blessings
Since no clear definition of "spiritual blessings" is offered, let's just assume I have this made-up concept as well.
- Its all a free gift
Fine print: Tithing and cost of the Bible not included.
- cannot be earned
But...
- recieved through faith
...it's earned through faith.
No faith required for me. Nothing to receive or earn. Just a simple realization of what I am in my true nature. So what I have really is free and doesn't require belief.
- No rituals, pilgrimage, special clothes ,bno joining an organisation , club , ' church ' no practices, no asceticism , to recieve all of the above .
(though blind faith in what was written down by another centuries ago is required).
But none of these are required for me, either. Practice and asceticism just facilitate and expedite the process of Self-realization.

Final thought: If it works for you, great! Don't assume it works for everyone else or that anyone else needs your free gift. :)

@Moonjuice

Nope those are false representations of who God is, and what God is about.

If you listen to someone who said. Jesus Christ only died to save special and elect people ( which I do believe he did grab a hand full of people who were the church bride a long time ago ); and that the rest of the world is going into a place where :

Flesh is consumed by fire; and pain is initiated on the body because God desires that people are to be thrown in hell.

I believe you have come across someone who does not understand God at all; and believe they would probably judge people very harshly even condemn them.

That is not good news.

That was a thoughtful response. I cannot understand though what it means “saved to the kingdom of heaven”.

Also, are you indicating that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins? That seems like an impossibility to me?

@Jeremiah Ames Yes Jesus Christ paid the sins on the cross once and for all people. (Hebrews 10) I believe He paid for the sins past, present, and future. Sorry you do not understand what it means to be saved to the kingdom of the Son/Heaven/Heavenly Jerusalem.

I have a scripture though that shows how we are saved from darkness into the kingdom of God's Son by faith; and God is the one who pulls us up from the darkness.

This is what I believe happens to people when they are born again by the spirit and their mind has changed to start seeking after the things of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ and heavenly things from them. We are saved to the kingdom of the Son/ ; Heavenly Jerusalem is our final destination and it by faith we believe and trust in god.

Colossians 1
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

You have made an excellent observation. What you have described is the message peddled by the vast majority of Christianity. It is a sad message for sure.

If there is a God of love, Christianity needs to find that God and rethink their message.

Then it may be easier to connect with people outside of their religion.
